Munich is one of Germany’s most cycle-friendly cities, with an extensive network of flat, well-maintained bike paths linking parks, rivers, and historic neighbourhoods. Renting a bike gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace, moving easily between green spaces, beer gardens, and the city’s historic centre.
After bike fitting and a short handover, you’re free to explore Munich independently. The city’s layout and clear cycle infrastructure make navigation straightforward, even for first-time visitors. A lock and map are provided so you can stop easily along the way without worrying about security.
Many riders start with a loop through the English Garden, one of the largest urban parks in the world. Wide paths lead past open meadows and the Eisbach, where you can watch river surfers before continuing south or east. From there, cycling along the Isar River offers a quieter, scenic route that feels removed from the city despite being centrally located.
Longer rentals make it easy to reach Munich’s historic Altstadt, including Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt, and the Frauenkirche, or to ride north towards Olympiapark. Many guests also plan informal beer garden stops, cycling between classic spots such as Hirschgarten or Augustiner-Keller and locking up nearby.
The rental point at Karlsplatz (Stachus) sits just outside Munich’s historic centre, providing quick access to both the old town and major cycle routes leading to parks and rivers. Starting here avoids heavy traffic and makes it easy to plan a circular route.
The surrounding streets connect directly to dedicated bike lanes, allowing you to ride confidently from the moment you set off.
All riders must be able to cycle independently. Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult, with trailers and tag-along attachments available on request.
E-bike upgrades are available for eligible riders. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. A government-issued photo ID is required as a deposit, and a credit card must be kept on file for bike security.
This rental option is designed for flexibility and independence. You decide where to go and how long to spend at each stop, whether that’s a park ride, sightseeing loop, or beer garden circuit.
Quality bikes, included essentials, and a central starting point mean you can start riding immediately with minimal planning.
