Enjoy a relaxing paddle from Cala Tango and see one of Javea’s most dramatic coastal spots from a new perspective. Renting a kayak gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace, uncovering sea caves, quiet bays, and the clear blue waters that make this stretch of coastline so special.
Starting from the small cove at Cala Tango, paddle along the protected coastline that forms part of the San Antonio Natural Marine Reserve. This area is calm, scenic, and teeming with life, offering the perfect environment for relaxed paddling and exploration.
Glide past the cliffs known for their slanted rock layers and pause at Cala del Pope — an isolated bay only reachable by sea. Snorkelling here reveals shoals of colourful fish and sea grass meadows. Those feeling adventurous can stop to try gentle cliff jumps at varying heights, always in clear and deep water.
Further along, the calm section of the reserve allows time to rest, swim, or drift while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. You can tailor the route to suit your mood — whether you prefer a quiet exploration, some time in the water, or a mix of both. The experience is flexible, giving you full control over your time on the water.
Cala Tango sits just outside Javea’s main port area, offering easy access yet retaining a wild feel. The cliffs form a natural barrier that shelters the bay from waves and wind, making it a safe and scenic paddling spot for all experience levels.
From the water, you’ll get a great view of Javea’s coastline, including the Cap de San Antonio lighthouse above. The marine reserve is one of the most protected stretches along the Costa Blanca, with clear water visibility and an abundance of marine species — a true hidden gem for kayaking and snorkelling.
No previous kayaking experience is needed. A short safety briefing and basic paddling instruction are provided before you head out, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident with your equipment.

Many visitors choose two to three hours to explore nearby spots such as Cala del Pope or the San Antonio reserve, while others take a full day to enjoy a more leisurely pace. The team will give guidance based on your plans and the day’s sea conditions.
Extending your rental is often possible if conditions allow. It’s best to mention your intended duration when booking so the team can prepare the equipment accordingly and suggest ideal times for calmer water and lighter winds.

You’ll paddle past rugged cliffs, small coves, and sea caves, all part of the San Antonio marine reserve. Many paddlers spot schools of fish beneath the kayak and even the occasional sea bird nesting along the cliffs.

It’s recommended to bring a waterproof bag or phone case if you plan to take photos. The team can also point out the safest and most scenic swim areas before you launch.
Yes, cliff jumps here vary in height, so you can choose what feels comfortable. The staff will point out where it’s deep enough to jump safely. It’s always optional — many visitors simply enjoy watching others take the leap.
Conditions are checked daily, and if waves or visibility make jumping unsafe, the team will advise against it. Safety always comes first, ensuring a fun and worry-free experience.
Bring swimwear, sunscreen, water, and a light snack if staying out for a few hours. A hat and sunglasses with a strap are also useful. Mobile phones should be stored in waterproof cases, which are available for hire or purchase on-site.
Water is especially important under the Mediterranean sun. Even short paddles can feel warm, so staying hydrated keeps you comfortable and focused.
