Spend a full day exploring the Calanques on this extended kayaking trip. The route covers multiple inlets and coves, offering opportunities to swim, sunbathe and enjoy a picnic along the way. This excursion provides a balanced mix of activity, relaxation, and sightseeing for all levels of paddlers aged seven and above.
Departing from Port-Miou, the group will first paddle toward the Calanque de l’Oulle, a serene inlet framed by limestone cliffs. The guide provides instruction on paddling techniques and safety before heading out, ensuring everyone is comfortable in their kayak. The morning section is a mix of gentle paddling and sightseeing along the coast.
Next, the route takes you through the Calanque de l’Eissadon and the Lessaidon fault, revealing dramatic cliffs and a historic quarry. This section combines longer stretches of paddling with short stops to appreciate the geological features. The Calanque du Devenson offers a turquoise swimming spot and a chance to pass the small Îlot du Dromadaire, giving participants a taste of the park’s more secluded areas.
The final part of the trip leads to the Calanque d’En-Vau, where a two-hour break is scheduled for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying your picnic. This extended stop allows time to relax, take in the scenery and recharge before continuing to the last stop at the Calanque de Port-Pin. The return journey to Port-Miou concludes the day with a comfortable paddle back along the coast.
This full-day adventure takes place entirely within the Calanques National Park, located between Marseille and Cassis in southern France. The park is renowned for its towering limestone cliffs, turquoise waters, and sheltered coves, offering an unparalleled coastal experience.
Launching from Port-Miou provides direct access to multiple calanques that are difficult to reach on foot. Sea kayaking allows visitors to explore both well-known and hidden areas of the park, experiencing the natural beauty of the Mediterranean coastline up close.
Participants should be comfortable spending several hours outdoors and able to paddle steadily for extended periods. While the guide offers support and instruction, this longer excursion requires a moderate level of physical stamina and confidence on the water.
As there are no shops or facilities along the route, everyone must bring their own food, drinks, and items for sun protection. Suitable clothing for water activities, swimwear, and a change of clothes for after the trip are recommended.
Decades of experience leading outdoor adventures have shaped a calm, professional approach that focuses on safety, efficiency, and enjoyment. Guidance is adapted to the group’s ability, ensuring a comfortable and engaging experience for everyone, from children to adults.
Expert knowledge of the Calanques National Park allows the guide to reveal both its iconic locations and more secluded areas. Small group sizes make it possible to share insights about the local environment, geology, and marine life while maintaining a relaxed pace that balances adventure with opportunities to rest.
