We run guided outdoor adventures on Senja in Arctic Norway, from snowshoe hikes and ski touring to mountain scrambles and ice fishing with local guides who know the terrain, seasons, and weather patterns.
Guests meet at our coastal base for clear briefings, well-paced days, and small-group attention on routes chosen for the conditions. Whether you want a steady summit day or a gentler first taste of northern landscapes, we focus on safe, memorable time outdoors in real Arctic wilderness.

Step off standard hiking paths onto exposed ridges, scrambles and traverses that reveal Senja's wild alpine character. This private day is built around your experience and the weather, with hands-on guiding on technical ground above fjords and ocean.
We meet at our Skaland base for a detailed briefing, then drive to the trailhead for the route chosen that morning. Possible objectives include classic traverses such as Bringtinden, Mykjetind to Kyle, Snaufjellet to Hatten or Okshornan lines when conditions suit.
On the ridge you move with deliberate pacing, using hands where needed while the guide manages ropes or protection if the terrain demands it. We pause for summit views, food and photos before a careful descent and return transfer in the afternoon.
Senja's coastal mountains rise steeply from sea level, creating long ridgelines with sudden exposure and huge views. Rock quality and snow patches change through the seasons, so route choice is always local and conditions led.
Because the island sits far north, weather can shift quickly; your guide reads wind, visibility and surface grip before committing to the most adventurous lines. That judgement is part of what makes ridge days here memorable rather than reckless.
You should be a strong hill walker comfortable with heights, scrambling and long days in mountain boots. Previous climbing or scrambling experience is highly recommended, and honesty about your limits helps us pick the right ridge.
Guests must be at least sixteen years old. Good fitness, flexible joints and calm movement on exposed steps matter more than elite climbing grades.
Local guides know which ridges are appropriate after recent rain, snow or wind, and they carry the kit to manage short technical sections safely. You are not following a generic trail card; the day is shaped around you.
With only two guests maximum, communication stays direct on every crest and chimney. That intimacy suits adventurous travellers who want a true Senja challenge without joining a large group.
Meet at our Skaland base on Bergsfjordveien, postcode 9385. Allow time for a thorough briefing before we drive to the day's trailhead.
The team will confirm start time once your date is set. Share experience levels beforehand so the guide can prepare appropriate routes.
It is a guided mountain day with scrambling and exposure rather than a tuition course. Your guide manages safety on technical sections while you focus on movement.
If you want instruction on rope skills, mention that when you enquire so we can match expectations to the itinerary.
Exposed ridges demand tight communication and quick decisions. Private pairs let the guide tailor pace and route difficulty without compromising safety.
Larger groups are not offered on this product. Bring one trusted partner or book as a solo with a guide.
Options include Bringtinden, Mykjetind to Kyle, Snaufjellet to Hatten, Okshornan variants and lesser known local lines. The final choice depends on wind, visibility and recent precipitation.
Your guide will explain the plan in the morning briefing. No route is guaranteed weeks in advance.
Sturdy hiking boots and standard mountain clothing are essential. The guide brings ropes or protection when the selected ridge requires it.
Do not assume you need your own harness unless we confirm beforehand. Share your kit list when you enquire.
Expect a full day on rough ground with scrambling, steep ascents and careful downclimbing. Prior experience on Grade 1 scrambles or harder hikes is a sensible baseline.
Cardiovascular fitness helps, but confidence on exposed steps matters just as much. Be honest about fear of heights when you book.
Technical terrain and decision making on ridges suit older teens and adults who can follow complex instructions. Younger hikers are better served on standard snowshoe or summit hikes.
Parents booking for sixteen to seventeen year olds should join the same private group and remain responsible for supervision.
Wind, rain or poor visibility can force a downgrade to a less exposed hike or a new date. Your guide will not push onto sharp ridges when grip or sightlines are poor.
The team contacts you early when plans must change. Travel insurance with weather flexibility is wise in northern Norway.
Some lines may use ropes, slings or brief protected sections depending on rock and conditions. This is not a fixed via ferrata route with permanent cables.
Your guide explains any equipment before you leave the ground. Ask questions during the morning briefing if anything is unclear.
Lightweight cameras work well on summits, but stow them securely before scrambling sections. A chest or hip belt bag is safer than a loose neck strap on exposed rock.
Your guide can suggest when it is appropriate to stop for photos versus when both hands are needed on the ridge.
All trips start from our Skaland base unless we agree another sensible point after booking. Parking is available on site.
Pickup from nearby accommodation may be possible on some dates. Confirm details once your day is secured.
