Enjoy an exciting descent along the Genil River in an inflatable raft guided by a trained instructor. Suitable for beginners, this activity combines teamwork, adventure, and refreshing river rapids in central Andalusia. Children under 14 can join a shorter section of the trip with an instructor, making it a family-friendly experience.
The adventure begins with a safety briefing and basic instructions from your guide. You’ll learn how to navigate the raft, paddle effectively, and respond to rapids while floating down the Genil River. The guide remains in control, steering the raft while the group helps power through the whitewater.
The route passes through a series of rapids and turbulent sections that create foam and whitewater effects. Participants will experience teamwork, bursts of adrenaline, and refreshing splashes along the way. Children under 14 or shorter than 1.60 m take part in the initial section with an instructor to ensure safety while enjoying the river.
After completing the descent, you’ll return to the facilities where restrooms, showers, and changing areas are available. The guides provide advice on post-activity care, and there is an option to purchase photos or videos of your trip to remember the experience.
The rafting section runs between El Tejar-Benamejí and Palenciana in Córdoba province. This area offers a mix of gentle and moderate rapids suitable for beginners while still giving the sensation of true whitewater adventure. The river flows through scenic countryside, including forested banks and rolling hills, giving a beautiful backdrop to the activity.
The base facilities in Cuevas Bajas provide easy access, parking, and equipment storage. The centre is roughly one hour from Granada, Córdoba, and Málaga, making it convenient for day trips. Optional packages for lunch or multi-activity days are available, including paella or barbecue.
No prior experience is required, but all participants must be comfortable in water and able to follow safety instructions. A minimum height of 1.60 m (5’3”) is required for the full whitewater section, though children under 14 can participate in a supervised portion.
Participants should bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, closed-toe water shoes, and a change of clothes. Being in reasonable physical condition helps you enjoy the rafting more fully, and all activities are guided to ensure safety regardless of skill level.
The company is certified for quality and operates under strict safety standards, providing professional guides and full technical equipment, including wetsuits, helmets, and life jackets. Insurance and first-aid provisions are included, giving peace of mind to all participants.
The location offers both accessibility and variety, suitable for families, groups, and experienced rafters. Activities are personalised when possible, with the option to combine rafting with other adventures or full-day packages, ensuring every visitor has a memorable experience.
The full whitewater section requires participants to be at least 14 years old and 1.60 m (5’3”) tall to safely navigate the rapids. Children younger than this can join a shorter, supervised section with an instructor.
All participants must be able to swim or feel comfortable in water. The guide will provide safety instructions and supervision, but young children should be accompanied by an adult who can support them throughout the activity.
No previous rafting experience is needed to participate. The guides provide a complete briefing at the start and remain in control during the descent, helping you navigate rapids safely.
Beginners often find the Class II–III rapids both manageable and exciting. The activity is designed to be safe for newcomers while still offering the energy and challenge of whitewater rafting.
Participants should wear a swimsuit, closed-toe water shoes or booties, and bring a towel and change of clothes for after the trip. A wetsuit is provided as part of the equipment, as the river water can be very cold even in summer.
It is also recommended to use sunscreen, and bring personal toiletries if needed. Avoid loose items such as jewellery or watches that could be lost during rafting.
The total activity duration is 3.5–4 hours, including transportation and preparation. The rafting section itself lasts approximately 1.5–2 hours, depending on river flow and group size.
This timeframe allows for a thorough safety briefing, gear fitting, and time to enjoy the rapids without feeling rushed. Participants can also enjoy the facilities afterward for showers and changing.
Photos and videos are not included in the standard price, but can be purchased on the day of your visit. Guides can advise on what’s available and arrange options for capturing your experience.
This allows guests to relive the adventure while keeping the standard activity fee affordable. Many participants choose this option as a keepsake.
Transportation during the activity is included, such as transfers to and from the river section. Participants need to arrange travel to the meeting point at Cuevas Bajas independently.
Larger groups can combine transportation with other activities or full-day packages if desired, and guides can provide information about parking or additional logistics.
Yes, children under 14 can take part in a supervised 20–25 minute section of the river with an instructor. Adults accompany them to ensure safety and enjoyment.
Families are encouraged to book the activity in sections suitable for children, allowing both adults and young participants to have fun without risk. Optional packages can combine this experience with other nearby activities for a full family day.
