Enjoy an early morning boat trip along Mallorca’s north coast while watching dolphins in their natural habitat. With small group sizes and plenty of time out on the water, this experience combines wildlife spotting, coastal scenery, sea caves, and swimming stops into a relaxed half-day adventure.
Departing from the marina in Can Picafort, the trip heads out across the Bay of Alcudia towards the dolphin viewing area just off Mallorca’s north coast. The smaller boat size creates a more relaxed experience on the water and allows everyone to enjoy clear views as the dolphins swim and surface nearby. Sightings are guaranteed, giving guests the chance to watch these animals moving naturally through the sea rather than in controlled environments.
Morning departures are especially popular thanks to the quieter conditions and soft light along the coastline. During the journey, the captain shares local knowledge about the area while navigating along cliffs, hidden corners of the coast, and open stretches of sea where dolphins are commonly spotted. Fresh sea air and open views make the journey just as enjoyable as the wildlife encounter itself.
On the return journey, the boat stops at a natural sea cave when conditions allow, giving guests the opportunity to see more of Mallorca’s coastline from the water. If the sea is calm enough, there is also time for a short swimming and snorkelling stop in a secluded cove with clear water before heading back to the marina.
Can Picafort sits on Mallorca’s north coast within the Bay of Alcudia, an area known for its long beaches, calm waters, and access to quieter sections of coastline. The marina provides a convenient starting point for boat trips, with cafés, shops, and seafront promenades all within walking distance.
Heading out to sea offers a completely different perspective of the island, with views of rocky cliffs, hidden coves, and open coastline that are difficult to access by land. Early morning trips are particularly peaceful, with calmer water and fewer boats out on the sea.
No previous boating or snorkelling experience is required to join this trip. Guests simply need to feel comfortable spending time on a boat for several hours and should bring suitable clothing, sun protection, and swimwear if planning to enter the water.
Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the experience. Due to sea conditions and boarding access, the tour is not recommended for guests with serious back or neck problems, pregnant guests, or those requiring wheelchair access.
Smaller group sizes help create a more relaxed and enjoyable experience on the water, allowing everyone onboard to comfortably watch the dolphins without overcrowding. The focus is on responsible wildlife encounters while still giving guests the opportunity to see dolphins up close in their natural environment.
Experienced local captains know the coastline and dolphin viewing areas well, helping maximise the chances of sightings while adapting the route to the day’s sea conditions. Additional stops at caves and swimming coves make the trip feel like a complete coastal experience rather than simply a boat ride.
Yes, dolphin sightings are guaranteed on this tour. The routes and departure times are planned around the areas and conditions where dolphins are most commonly seen along Mallorca’s north coast.
If dolphins are not spotted during the trip, guests are offered a refund according to the tour policy. Early morning departures usually provide the best conditions for sightings.
Dolphins are often seen swimming surprisingly close to the boat, sometimes surfacing alongside or crossing nearby in small groups. As these are wild animals, every trip is slightly different, but sightings are generally very clear.
The crew follows respectful wildlife viewing practices to avoid disturbing the dolphins while still allowing guests to enjoy excellent views and photographs.
No, the experience is designed for small groups with a maximum of 12 people onboard. This creates a quieter atmosphere and gives everyone space to enjoy the views comfortably.
Smaller groups also make it easier to move around the boat and speak with the captain during the trip.
Children aged 6 and above are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Families often enjoy the experience as dolphin sightings are exciting for younger guests and the overall pace of the trip is relaxed.
Parents should supervise children throughout the tour, especially during swimming or snorkelling stops.
Weather and sea conditions permitting, the captain will stop at a sheltered cove during the return journey for a short swim and snorkelling session.
Sea conditions can change throughout the day, so swimming stops are always dependent on safety and comfort levels at the time of departure.
Guests are advised to bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, drinks, food, and a hat. Comfortable clothing and light layers are also useful during morning departures.
Anyone planning to swim should bring suitable items for getting in and out of the water comfortably.
