This full-day private hike takes you to the summit of La Concha, the highest mountain overlooking Marbella. Led by an experienced guide, the route is paced to your group and suited to those looking for a demanding but rewarding mountain day.
With clear navigation, local knowledge, and logistical support handled for you, this is a focused hiking experience for confident walkers who want to explore the Sierra Blanca properly.
Duration: Around 7 hours
Age range: 16+
Distance: Approximately 10 km
Elevation: Up to 1,200 m
Location: Sierra Blanca, near Marbella
Parking: Free parking at the start point
The hike begins in the Sierra Blanca mountains, just inland from the coast. After a briefing with your guide, you’ll set off on a well-established but demanding trail that steadily gains height. The ascent to the summit typically takes around 3–4 hours, depending on pace and conditions, with breaks planned to manage effort and hydration.
As the route climbs, the terrain becomes rockier and more exposed, requiring steady footing and good balance. Your guide will manage the route, monitor the group’s condition, and adjust the pace where needed. Along the way, you’ll learn about local plant life, wildlife, and the geography of the mountain range, adding context to the landscape you’re moving through.
Reaching the summit of La Concha offers wide-ranging views across the Costa del Sol and inland mountain ridges. After time at the top for food and rest, the descent follows a controlled route back down to the starting point, completing a full and physically demanding mountain day.
La Concha sits within the Sierra Blanca mountain range, directly above Marbella. Despite its proximity to the coast, the terrain is alpine in character, with steep slopes, exposed ridges, and changing conditions throughout the day.
The meeting point is approximately 20 minutes from Marbella and around 30 minutes from Estepona by car. Free public parking is available close to the trailhead, making access straightforward for those staying along the coast.
This hike is suitable for participants with a good level of fitness and prior experience of longer walks. You should be comfortable hiking for several hours on uneven, rocky terrain and managing sustained uphill sections.
Participants must be 16 or older. Anyone with medical conditions, recent injuries, or concerns about heights or endurance should make contact in advance to confirm suitability.
This is a fully private hike, allowing the day to run at your pace rather than being dictated by a group. The route, breaks, and timing are adapted to your ability, making it a safer and more enjoyable way to tackle a demanding mountain.
Logistics are kept simple, with water and a backpack provided and an experienced guide managing navigation and safety throughout. The focus is on a well-run, informative, and properly supported mountain day rather than rushing to the summit.
The standard minimum age for hiking activities is 10 years, but this route is more demanding and is set at 16 years and above due to the length, elevation gain, and exposed terrain.
Exceptions are not usually made for this hike, as the physical and technical demands are significantly higher than shorter coastal or forest routes.
A mid to high level of fitness is required. The hike involves sustained uphill walking, rocky ground, and a full day on your feet.
You should be comfortable with long ascents and able to maintain a steady pace for several hours without difficulty.
Previous experience with longer hikes is strongly recommended. While the route is guided, it is not suitable as a first-ever hike.
Experience on uneven terrain and familiarity with pacing and hydration will make the day far more enjoyable.
Participants should be able to move confidently over rocky terrain and manage sustained physical effort. This hike is not suitable for people with low fitness levels, mobility impairments, recent surgeries, heart conditions, severe fear of heights, visual impairments, or those over 110 kg.
Any relevant medical conditions should be disclosed in advance so suitability can be assessed properly.
Wear comfortable sports or hiking clothing in layers, as conditions can change with altitude. Sturdy hiking shoes with good grip are essential.
Optional items include walking socks, sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and any personal medication you may require.
Yes. You should bring your own lunch and snacks, as this is a full-day hike with no facilities along the route.
Water is provided, but additional snacks are recommended to maintain energy levels throughout the day.
The hike can run for much of the year, but availability depends on weather conditions. Strong winds, extreme heat, or heavy rain may affect safety.
If conditions are unsuitable, the hike will be rescheduled or cancelled with a full refund offered.
Yes. Free public parking is available near the trailhead. The area is unguarded, so valuables should not be left in vehicles.
Meeting point details are shared clearly in advance once your booking is confirmed.
This is a private hike, so group size is flexible within reason. Larger groups may require additional guides to maintain safety and pacing.
If you are booking for a bigger group, it’s best to discuss this in advance so arrangements can be made.
If weather conditions make the hike unsafe, the activity will be cancelled for safety reasons.
You will be offered the option to reschedule or receive a full refund if a new date is not suitable.
