Walk underwater among sharks and rays without needing to dive or swim. This helmet-based experience allows you to explore the aquarium floor in a controlled setting, keeping your head dry while observing marine life at close range.
The experience begins with a structured briefing covering safety procedures, communication signals, and how the underwater helmet works. You’ll be fitted with specialist equipment designed to supply air continuously, allowing you to breathe normally throughout the session. No diving skills are required, and your hair stays dry during the experience.
After the briefing, you’ll enter the aquarium and descend onto the tank floor inside a designated area. Once underwater, you’ll walk along a fixed route while surrounded by sharks, rays, and a wide range of fish species. The helmet provides clear visibility and keeps water away from your face, making the experience accessible even for those who are uncomfortable in water.
Trained staff supervise the session at all times, guiding movement and monitoring participants. The pace is steady and calm, giving you time to observe the animals around you rather than rushing through the experience.
The experience takes place inside Dubai Aquarium, located within The Dubai Mall on Financial Center Road. The venue is centrally located and easy to reach by taxi or public transport.
Being inside the mall means access to nearby facilities, cafés, and restrooms before and after your session. Guests are required to arrive at least 45 minutes early to allow time for check-in, paperwork, and briefing.
No swimming or diving experience is required. Participants must be at least 10 years old and meet the minimum physical requirement of having shoulder width of at least 33 cm to ensure correct helmet fitting.
A medical form must be completed before participation, and a valid passport is required on the day. Guests should follow the specified dress code and arrive early to avoid missing their session.
This experience is designed to make close marine encounters accessible without the barriers of diving certification or swimming ability. Clear procedures, specialist equipment, and constant supervision allow participants to focus on observing marine life rather than managing technical skills.
Activities are selected for their reliability and controlled environments. The emphasis is on offering a distinctive aquarium experience that is well organised, approachable, and suitable for a wide range of participants.
No swimming ability is required. The experience uses a helmet system that allows you to breathe normally while walking on the aquarium floor.
You are guided throughout and remain within a controlled area at all times.
No. The helmet keeps water away from your head and face, allowing you to stay dry during the entire session.
This makes the experience suitable for guests who are uncomfortable with full water immersion.
You’ll be surrounded by a large variety of species, including sharks, rays, and many types of fish housed within the aquarium.
Animals move freely around the enclosure, so sightings vary, but close encounters are common.
The total experience lasts around one hour, with approximately 30 minutes spent underwater.
The remaining time is used for briefing, equipment fitting, and entry procedures.
Children aged 10 and above can take part, provided they meet the physical requirements and can follow instructions.
Parents should consider whether their child is comfortable being underwater, even with the helmet system.
