Hire Gure Aitxe or Beti Aitxe for a full day on the Basque coast from Donostia or Hondarribia marina. Choose bareboat if you hold a valid recreational licence, or add our skipper so everyone can enjoy the sails without studying charts. The price is for the yacht for the day, within each boat's guest limit.
You choose bareboat or skippered hire on Gure Aitxe or Beti Aitxe. Bareboat guests hold a valid recreational licence, bring photo ID, and complete paperwork plus a full handover on engine, sails, VHF, and safety kit before casting off. Skippered tiers add a captain who handles navigation while you relax on deck.
The day runs in daylight from marina briefing to an agreed return time. Routes follow wind, tides, and your departure port, from La Concha to coastal Gipuzkoa legs or Bidasoa views from Hondarribia when conditions allow. Swim stops and lunch on deck are possible when rules and sea state permit; you finish at the same pontoon with wash-down.
Charter handover is at Donostia-San Sebastián marina unless we confirm Hondarribia marina for your date. Both ports open day sails on the Basque coast with different views of La Concha or the Bidasoa.
From Donostia you can loop inside La Concha, pass Santa Clara island, or stretch west along Gipuzkoa when the forecast allows. Hondarribia departures add estuary scenery and wider bay views toward France on clear days.
Bareboat: valid recreational licence, photo ID, and attendance at the full handover. You must be comfortable taking responsibility for the yacht and guests within the agreed sailing limits.
Skippered: no licence required; you remain responsible for sensible behaviour on board. Hire may be shortened or postponed in unsafe weather, and bareboat deposits are explained at check-in.
Gure Aitxe is built for easy handling and comfortable days afloat; Beti Aitxe adds space and agility for bigger crews. Both are serviced to the same standard as our training and club fleet.
Handover teams and skippers work Donostia and Hondarribia marinas year-round, so sailing limits, tidal quirks, and scenic legs along the Basque coast reflect local practice rather than generic templates.
Arrive at the confirmed pier for lifejackets, paperwork on bareboat tiers, and a systems brief on the yacht you selected. The team covers sailing limits, fuel, mooring rules, and safety kit before lines go ashore.
Skippered guests meet the captain, stow soft bags, and agree a rough plan for the day based on wind and your group's priorities.
Cast off into La Concha or head along the Gipuzkoa shore depending on departure marina and forecast. Bareboat crews steer within the agreed area; skippered guests trim sails or watch the coast from the rail.
The pace stays comfortable for your party, with the option to motor briefly if wind is light and you need to reach a planned stop.
When sea state and local rules allow, you can anchor or hold station for a swim or a picnic lunch you brought aboard. The skipper or handover briefing will have outlined where stops are permitted that day.
Time ashore is limited on a day hire; most groups eat on deck or pause in sheltered water near the bay.
You sail back to the departure marina before dusk unless a later return was agreed in writing. Lines are made fast, the yacht is rinsed down, and a quick inventory check closes the day.
Bareboat hirers sign off with the pontoon team; skippered groups debrief with the captain on timing and any harbour fees due locally.
Primary meeting point is Donostia-San Sebastián marina at La Concha. Plan to arrive about fifteen minutes before departure for briefing.
Some sailings also start from Hondarribia marina on the Bidasoa estuary. We confirm which marina applies when we accept your date.
Bareboat means you hire the yacht and act as skipper within the sailing area we agree at handover. You need a valid recreational licence, ID, and time for paperwork, deposit, and a full systems brief before lines go ashore.
With skipper adds a qualified captain who is responsible for navigation, harbour traffic, and the daily route. That suits guests without a licence, mixed-experience groups, or anyone who wants to relax while someone else reads the chart and watches the forecast.
Most trips meet at Donostia-San Sebastián marina below La Concha. We confirm the pier and check-in time when we accept your date, usually about fifteen minutes before departure.
Some sailings leave from Hondarribia marina on the Bidasoa. If your tier lists both ports, message on Adventuro chat to confirm which marina applies.
You pick a date and party size on Adventuro. We check crew, tides, and existing sailings before accepting. Payment runs through Adventuro once the request is approved.
If we cannot match your date, we suggest alternatives by chat or email. The total shown on Adventuro is confirmed when we accept your request.
Lifejackets are issued at the pontoon and must be worn as directed. The skipper or instructor covers man-overboard steps, moving on deck, and how to use grab lines before leaving the berth.
The yacht carries standard coastal safety equipment for the activity. Tell us about mobility needs when you book so we can advise on boarding.
Wear non-slip shoes, warm layers, and a windproof jacket. Sun cream and sunglasses with a retainer are useful even on cloudy days.
Bring a refillable water bottle. Pack a light waterproof if you have one. Hard-soled heels and open flip-flops are not suitable on deck.
Sailing needs suitable wind and sea state. If we cancel for safety, we offer another date or follow the Flexible cancellation terms inherited from the centre preset.
Light wind days may mean a shorter route or more motor assistance. The skipper decides on the day; we do not push beyond safe limits for the vessel and group.
You must be 18 or over to sign charter hire paperwork. Younger guests may sail with adult supervision when your booking tier allows.
Tell us ages and headcount when you request the date so we match the right yacht and crew setup.
Transport to the marina is not included. Donostia has bus links and taxis to the port; parking near the waterfront can be limited in peak season.
Hondarribia marina is served by local buses from Irun and Hendaye area. Allow extra time for luggage if you are joining a multi-day cruise.
Briefings are given in Spanish and English in most sessions. If you need another language, ask when you request the date and we will confirm if an instructor is available.
Licence courses may use Spanish syllabus terms for exams even when teaching in English. We outline what materials you need before the first practical day.
La Concha and nearshore legs are often calmer than offshore passages. If you are sensitive, eat lightly, stay hydrated, and look at the horizon.
Tell the crew early if you feel unwell. They can adjust seating and route within safe limits. Medication is a personal choice; we cannot provide it on board.

About the centre
Donostia-San Sebastián
For more than fifteen years we have taught sailing and skippered yachts on the Cantabrian coast from Donostia-San Sebastián and Hondarribia. Whether you want a gentle first trip out of La Concha bay or a longer cruise along the Basque shoreline, our skippers and instructors focus on safety, clear briefings, and time on the water that suits your group.
We run a nautical school alongside bareboat and skippered charter, so the same team can help you book a family day sail, train for Spanish recreational licences, or plan a weekend or week aboard. Our fleet ranges from easy day boats to larger yachts for private groups, and we welcome children on suitable trips when conditions allow.
