Leave Istanbul crowds behind for a slow island day built around swimming, sun, and clear Marmara water. A local host helps you reach quieter beaches and coves on the Princes Islands, with time to float, snorkel from the shore, and unwind at an easy pace.
After meeting at the agreed pier, you travel by ferry to one of the Princes Islands such as Büyükada, Burgazada, Heybeliada, or Kınalıada depending on conditions and preference. Your host chooses swim spots with calmer water and fewer day-trippers when possible.
The day is unhurried: swim, dry off on the shore, take photos, and move on only when the group is ready. Light local commentary helps you understand island life without turning the trip into a lecture.
The Princes Islands sit south of Istanbul in the Sea of Marmara, where car traffic is limited and the coastline mixes pine slopes with small bays. Each island has its own character, from Büyükada's wide promenades to Burgazada's low-key coves.
Water clarity changes with season and wind, but hosts aim for sheltered entries and sandy or pebble landings that suit confident swimmers. You stay close to shore unless the host briefs a different plan for your group.
You should be comfortable swimming in open water with a modest swell and entering from beaches or platforms. Non-swimmers can still enjoy the day on shore if they book knowing swim time is optional for them.
Share children's ages, mobility needs, and how strong a swimmer each guest is at checkout. The host uses that information to pick beaches and pacing.
Island residents know which coves stay calm on a windy afternoon and which ferries fit your hotel side of the city. That local timing keeps the day smooth instead of guessing from a map.
Groups stay small so you can ask to linger at a favourite beach or move on when you have had enough sun. Transport and swim stops are coordinated so you spend more time in the water and less time queuing in tourist strips.
Meet at the Büyükada ferry pier / Clock Tower area or the pier named on your voucher. Some rates include mainland transport coordination; others expect you to reach the island independently.
Bring swimwear, a towel, and reef-safe sunscreen. Wear shoes you can walk in on pebbles and dry quickly after swimming.
The host selects Büyükada, Burgazada, Heybeliada, or Kınalıada based on sea conditions, your preferences, and ferry timing. You can discuss priorities when you book or in the messages before the day.
Each island offers different beach styles, from rocky coves to broader swim entries. Flexibility helps when wind shifts during the season.
Confident open-water swimming helps you enjoy the full plan, but you may stay in shallow water if you prefer. Tell the host about your ability level so they pick suitable beaches.
Children should be supervised by parents at all times. The host does not provide one-to-one lifeguard cover unless your product terms state otherwise.
Some Bokun rates include transportation coordination while others meet you on the islands only. Read the inclusions on the calendar rate you select before paying.
Ferry tickets are a separate cost on many departures. Arrive early at busy piers so you do not miss the sailing your host expects.
Cancel free up to 24 hours before the scheduled start under the centre policy. Inside 24 hours, refunds are generally not available except where product terms or official ferry cancellations apply.
Keep your phone available on the day in case sea conditions require a plan change.
Hosts monitor wind and ferry advisories. Rough conditions may mean switching islands, shortening swim time, or postponing to another date.
Safety decisions are final on the day. Alternative dates follow the terms on your voucher.
Families are welcome when child tickets appear in the calendar. Share ages at checkout so the host chooses beaches with gentle entries.
Parents remain responsible for supervision in and out of the water. Strollers may be difficult on pebble beaches, so plan accordingly.
Swim blocks are flexible across the six-hour window, with breaks for sun, snacks, and travel between spots. There is no single fixed lap count; the pace is relaxed.
If you want extra time at one cove, ask your host early in the day while ferry return times are still open.
Bring mask and snorkel if you enjoy looking below the surface, unless your rate states equipment is supplied. Clear water varies by season and recent wind.
Fins are optional for short shore swims. A dry bag for electronics on the beach is useful.
The default meeting point is the Büyükada ferry pier / Clock Tower area. Your confirmation may list another pier if your rate starts on the mainland.
Message the team after booking if your hotel is on the European or Asian side so they can suggest the simplest ferry route.
Meals are not included unless your Bokun rate says otherwise. Many islands have cafés near the waterfront for lunch or ice cream between swims.
Bring water and snacks if you prefer not to stop at restaurants. Respect local rules about glass on beaches.
