Join a captain-led weekend cruise along the Basque coast from Donostia or Hondarribia, with routes shaped by the forecast and your group's pace. The listed price covers the yacht and qualified captain for about three days; longer week passages are arranged when you message us with dates and party size.
Your cruise follows the day-by-day outline below: marina join and safety brief, coastal sailing with harbour stops, nights aboard or in port, and a relaxed return on the final morning. Harbour fees, meals, and personal ashore costs are usually paid locally unless your acceptance message includes a package.
Weekend guests typically cover one or two nights near Donostia or Hondarribia; week guests add miles when wind and sea state allow. We confirm berth layout, provisioning plans, and exact clock times when we accept your party size.
Cruises usually join the fleet at Donostia-San Sebastián marina or Hondarribia marina on the Bidasoa. Your confirmation names which port applies and how early to arrive for briefing.
Coastal legs link Donostia, Hondarribia, and other Gipuzkoa harbours depending on length and forecast. Early days often stay in La Concha; longer weeks may reach western headlands when conditions allow. Nights are aboard or in port along the Cantabrian coast.
No skipper licence is required; minimum age is 12 unless agreed otherwise in writing. You should be comfortable with several nights aboard and movement on a heeled deck.
Share dietary needs and any medical factors that affect stamina when you request dates so the captain can plan provisioning stops. Carry photo ID for harbour formalities on coastal routes.
Multi-day cruises are run by captains who teach PER and yachtmaster modules, carrying the same MOB drills, weather discipline, and respect for the sea into holiday passages.
We shape weekend and week itineraries around Donostia, Hondarribia, and Gipuzkoa ports with realistic daily miles, shared nights aboard, and a family-friendly approach when younger crew are on deck.
Meet at the agreed marina for briefing, cabin allocation, and stowage of soft bags. The skipper covers galley, heads, and safety kit before lines go ashore.
A short sail in La Concha or nearby channels tunes the crew to the yacht if time and traffic allow. Evening is often in port with time to explore the waterfront.
Confirm the first-night marina and any harbour fees due locally before you turn in.
A longer day sail along the Gipuzkoa coast with lunch on board or ashore. Schedules flex with wind so the ride stays comfortable for the group.
Your skipper explains navigation basics if you want to learn during the trip, or keeps a relaxed pace if you prefer to watch the coast.
Arrival time at the night port depends on tide and berth availability; the crew shares the plan over breakfast.
Weekend cruises often finish with a shorter leg and return to base. Week cruises continue toward new ports with swimming or walking time when rules and sea state allow.
Provisioning stops refill water and snacks; the skipper chooses sheltered anchorages or marinas with space for your yacht.
We confirm the exact pattern for your tier when we accept your booking.
Week guests sail additional legs toward fresh harbours, mixing shorter hops with one longer passage when the forecast allows.
Nights may alternate between marinas and quiet anchorages subject to local rules. The group shares watch awareness even when the captain remains responsible for navigation.
Rest periods are built in so consecutive days stay enjoyable rather than rushed.
A paced day with optional swimming stops or a harbour visit depending on weather. The skipper keeps plans realistic for group fitness and sea state.
Evening meals ashore can be arranged locally when ports allow and you want a break from the galley.
Light wind may mean more motor assistance to reach the night berth on time.
Some week cruises use this day for a more ambitious passage or extra coaching on sail handling and pilotage if guests want tuition.
MOB drills or reefing practice can be slotted in when conditions are suitable and the group asks for hands-on learning.
The evening plan stays flexible if a weather window opens for an earlier or later port.
The last morning is planned as an easy sail back to the departure marina, clean down, and debrief with the skipper.
Allow time to pack soft bags and collect personal kit from lockers before lines are made fast.
Final clock times are confirmed before the trip starts and may shift slightly with tide on the return.
Primary meeting point is Donostia-San Sebastián marina at La Concha. Plan to arrive about fifteen minutes before departure for briefing.
Some sailings also start from Hondarribia marina on the Bidasoa estuary. We confirm which marina applies when we accept your date.
Nights are aboard the assigned school yacht in shared cabins or saloon berths, or in a marina berth with the same hull as your floating base. Layout, bedding, and shower access depend on whether you book Gure Aitxe, Beti Aitxe, or another vessel matched to your party size.
Pack a soft bag for narrow companionways and limited locker space. Heads and galley are shared; the skipper explains water, cooking, and quiet hours at the day-one brief. Marina nights may allow an easier walk to restaurants ashore when the pontoon is central.

Lifejackets are issued at the pontoon and must be worn as directed. The skipper or instructor covers man-overboard steps, moving on deck, and how to use grab lines before leaving the berth.
The yacht carries standard coastal safety equipment for the activity. Tell us about mobility needs when you book so we can advise on boarding.
Wear non-slip shoes, warm layers, and a windproof jacket. Sun cream and sunglasses with a retainer are useful even on cloudy days.
Bring a refillable water bottle. Pack a light waterproof if you have one. Hard-soled heels and open flip-flops are not suitable on deck.
Sailing needs suitable wind and sea state. If we cancel for safety, we offer another date or follow the Flexible cancellation terms inherited from the centre preset.
Light wind days may mean a shorter route or more motor assistance. The skipper decides on the day; we do not push beyond safe limits for the vessel and group.
Minimum age is 12 on coastal cruises. Children must sail with a responsible adult and wear lifejackets at all times on deck.
Share heights, ages, and berth needs when you request dates so we assign a yacht layout that keeps everyone comfortable on multi-day trips.
Transport to the marina is not included. Donostia has bus links and taxis to the port; parking near the waterfront can be limited in peak season.
Hondarribia marina is served by local buses from Irun and Hendaye area. Allow extra time for luggage if you are joining a multi-day cruise.
Briefings are given in Spanish and English in most sessions. If you need another language, ask when you request the date and we will confirm if an instructor is available.
Licence courses may use Spanish syllabus terms for exams even when teaching in English. We outline what materials you need before the first practical day.
La Concha and nearshore legs are often calmer than offshore passages. If you are sensitive, eat lightly, stay hydrated, and look at the horizon.
Tell the crew early if you feel unwell. They can adjust seating and route within safe limits. Medication is a personal choice; we cannot provide it on board.

About the centre
Donostia-San Sebastián
For more than fifteen years we have taught sailing and skippered yachts on the Cantabrian coast from Donostia-San Sebastián and Hondarribia. Whether you want a gentle first trip out of La Concha bay or a longer cruise along the Basque shoreline, our skippers and instructors focus on safety, clear briefings, and time on the water that suits your group.
We run a nautical school alongside bareboat and skippered charter, so the same team can help you book a family day sail, train for Spanish recreational licences, or plan a weekend or week aboard. Our fleet ranges from easy day boats to larger yachts for private groups, and we welcome children on suitable trips when conditions allow.
