Whether you're stepping onto a surfboard for the first time or looking to build on existing skills, these lessons are designed to help you progress in a supportive environment. Small group sizes, experienced instruction and plenty of time in the water create an enjoyable way to learn while developing confidence in the sea.
Each lesson begins on land with a practical introduction to the conditions you'll encounter in the water. Your instructor will explain how waves are formed, how to recognise currents, the equipment you'll be using and the safest way to approach the session. This gives you a solid understanding before you even step onto your board.
After the briefing, you'll practise the basic movements on the beach, including your pop-up technique and body positioning. Once everyone feels comfortable, it's time to head into the water where your instructor will guide you through catching waves while offering individual tips throughout the lesson. With no more than ten students per instructor, you'll receive regular feedback and encouragement as your confidence grows.
Lessons are suitable for complete beginners as well as those looking to improve existing skills. If you'd prefer more personalised coaching, private lessons or sessions with your own group of friends are also available. Throughout every lesson, the focus remains on learning safely while enjoying everything the ocean has to offer.
Frejulfe Beach sits on the beautiful coastline of western Asturias, providing an excellent setting for learning to surf. Its wide sandy beach and Atlantic waves make it a popular destination for both newcomers and experienced surfers looking to spend time in the water.
Away from the beach, the surrounding area offers coastal walks, local cafés and beautiful scenery along Spain's northern coast. Located close to the Camino de Santiago's Northern Way, it's an enjoyable place to relax before or after your surfing session.
These lessons are open to all experience levels, from complete beginners to more experienced surfers wanting to improve their technique. The only essential requirement is that participants are able to swim confidently.
All equipment is provided, so there's no need to bring your own surfboard or wetsuit unless you would prefer to use personal equipment. Simply arrive ready to learn and enjoy your time on the water.
Pablo believes that surfing is about more than simply standing on a board. Every lesson combines practical coaching with an understanding of the ocean, helping you learn how waves, currents and changing conditions work so you can continue developing your skills long after your lesson has finished.
Small class sizes ensure everyone receives personal guidance throughout the session, creating a friendly atmosphere where learning feels relaxed, enjoyable and rewarding regardless of your previous experience.
Not at all. These lessons are designed for all ability levels, including complete beginners who have never stood on a surfboard before. Your instructor will explain everything from the basics before you head into the water, allowing you to build confidence step by step.
If you've surfed before, the lesson also provides an opportunity to improve your technique and receive personalised feedback while practising in the sea.
Each session starts with a land-based introduction covering important topics such as wave formation, currents, equipment and ocean safety. You'll then practise techniques like popping up on the board before taking everything you've learned into the water.
Once in the sea, your instructor will coach you as you work towards catching waves, offering guidance throughout the session to help you improve and enjoy your time on the water.
Group sizes are limited to a maximum of ten students per instructor. Keeping numbers small allows everyone to receive plenty of individual coaching and support throughout the lesson.
A smaller group also creates a more relaxed learning environment, giving you more opportunities to ask questions and receive feedback as your confidence develops.
