Charlie was great. He assessed the ability and confidence levels in the group very well, so that everyone in our mixed group left feeling they'd been challenged enough to feel they'd achieved something. I would really recommend Charlie.

Stand Up Paddleboarding is a great way to get on the water and see the coastline from a fresh perspective. This session combines skill development with the chance to spot local wildlife such as seals, sea birds, and occasionally dolphins or porpoise. It suits anyone aged eight and over looking to try a new water activity in a relaxed, supportive setting.
The session begins with an introduction to the equipment and safety procedures, including how to use the board, paddle, and buoyancy aid. Your instructor will guide you through basic paddling techniques, balancing on the board, and turning, ensuring you feel confident before heading out on the water.
Once comfortable, the group will paddle along the coastline, moving at a pace suitable for everyone. This part of the session focuses on enjoying the natural surroundings and spotting wildlife, including seals resting on the rocks, jellyfish beneath the surface, sea birds flying overhead, and with luck, dolphins or porpoise swimming nearby. Your instructor will share insights about the local environment and help you improve your paddling skills throughout the outing.
The session ends with a return to the harbour, where there will be time to ask questions and receive tips on how to continue paddling safely on your own or with friends. Wetsuit, board, buoyancy aid, and instruction are all included, making this a straightforward way to try paddleboarding for the first time or refresh your skills.
The meeting point is Gairloch Harbour, located on the West Coast of Scotland within a beautiful sea loch that provides sheltered conditions ideal for paddleboarding. The surrounding area offers a rich marine environment and calm waters, making it perfect for beginners and experienced paddlers alike.
Nearby, the village of Gairloch offers amenities such as cafes and shops, so you can easily combine the paddleboarding session with a day out exploring the local area. The West Coast’s unique coastline presents opportunities to enjoy a variety of wildlife and natural scenery all within easy reach of the harbour.
Participants should be comfortable in the water and able to swim a minimum of 50 metres. No previous paddleboarding experience is necessary, as full instruction is provided during the session. Suitable clothing includes swimwear with trainers or water shoes, as well as a willingness to get wet.
The team has extensive experience in water sports, led by an instructor with over ten years in teaching kayaking, windsurfing, and surfing. This strong background ensures safety and confidence-building throughout the session. All instructors are qualified and hold current first aid certificates.
The operation is committed to sustainable and responsible outdoor experiences in the Highlands. They focus on limiting environmental impact and increasing awareness of the local landscape while providing expert guidance and friendly support, making each session enjoyable and respectful of nature.
