A sport fishing day of about six hours from Marina Puerto Morelos, with the crew setting the tackle and running the boat while you get on with the fishing. They talk you through the rods and where to stand before the lines go out. We pick you up and bring you back.
Hotel pickup, then the marina, then a day whose shape is the run out, the fishing, and the run home. The crew sets the tackle and walks you through the plan before anything is in the water, so you know whose rod is whose.
You fish with them running the boat, and when something comes up they handle it alongside and tell you what is going on. You do not need to bring a thing. The day ends back at the marina and the transfer takes you to your hotel.
You leave from Marina Puerto Morelos, the working dock in the reef town between Cancún and Playa del Carmen, quieter than the hotel-zone piers. The grounds are offshore, and how far you run depends on what the crew is seeing, which they will happily narrate.
The boat is home for the working part of the day, marina at both ends. Once you are aboard they tell you the plan and adjust it as the morning develops, which is how a good fishing day is supposed to feel.
The day is on the water in the sun, so sun cream, a hat and water once you are aboard will matter more than any tackle you were thinking of packing. A light layer is useful if the wind picks up offshore.
You do not need to rig a rod before you arrive. The crew sets the spread and shows you the reel when it is your turn, including where to stand, before a fish is on and everyone is suddenly busy.
The crew rigs the gear and runs the boat, so you are shown the rods and the plan instead of being handed a pile of kit and a heading. If you get seasick, say so before you leave the dock and they can set you up for a gentler first hour.
If the bite is elsewhere they move, and they tell you why before the lines come in. When a fish comes alongside, they handle it and tell you what goes back and what the day allows you to keep.
Hotel lobby pickup applies on routes that include transport; be ready at the stated departure time with photo ID for children if parks require it.
Self drivers receive meeting point coordinates and parking notes from the operator ahead of the activity date.
You should come ready for about six hours on a fishing boat. Most of the time is outside, so the heat is as much a part of the day as the activity itself.
Take water when you need it, and tell the guide at the start if you want a slower place in the group. That is much easier than trying to catch them once everyone is already moving.
A meal is not part of this visit, so eat beforehand and bring water with you. A snack in your bag is useful if you get hungry between stops.
Bring more water than you expect to drink if you are out over the middle of the day. A hat makes the sunny stretches much easier.
Light rain does not usually stop the visit. Lightning, a rough sea or a track that is too soft can shorten or move a section, and the guide explains that before you continue.
You will hear the change before you kit up for the next part. The group stays together while that decision is made.
Children can join when they can follow the briefing with an adult beside them. The guide will say before a section starts if it is not suitable for someone in your group.
They need to be able to listen to the safety talk and stay with the group. The same briefing applies to adults and to children.
You do not need to swim on this visit, because you stay on the boat or the machine. A life jacket is fitted before you leave the dock.
If you are uneasy on the water, tell the crew before you board. They will show you where to sit, or where to ride, before the group leaves.
You can bring a phone or a camera if it is secure and you can spare a hand. Ask the crew before you attach anything to a helmet, a harness or a handlebar.
If someone is taking photos for the group that day, the crew will say so when you arrive. They will also tell you where to collect them afterwards.
If a ruin, a reserve or a beach asks for a local payment, the guide explains it before you get to the entrance. It helps to have a little cash with you in case that happens.
Tips for the crew are your own choice at the end of the day. The guide is the person to ask if you are not sure what a site is asking for.
Bring a dry bag for a phone and anything else you want to keep dry. Ask the crew when you arrive if there is somewhere to change and leave a bag.
Put your name on anything you set down. The group moves between stops, and bags are easy to mix up.
A phone in a waterproof pouch is the simplest option on a boat or in the water. Ask the crew before you strap a camera to a helmet or a machine.
Drones and flash are often not allowed near wildlife or at the ruins. Follow what the guide and the site ask on the day.
Wear light clothes you can move in, closed shoes, and a hat. This includes a fishing boat, so sun cream and a bottle of water are worth having from the start.
Bring swimwear underneath if the visit includes a swim, and a dry layer for the van or the boat. Secure anything you do not want to lose.
