We partner with Rewilding Britain to help protect our natural spaces for future adventures.
All centres are vetted for safety and quality. Your adventure is in good hands with adventuro.
Winter transforms Sipoonkorpi into a hushed, bright forest of snow and frost, and snowshoes let you explore it without ski technique. Snowshoe hire, private guiding and Helsinki pickup are included for your group.
From Helsinki we drive to Sipoonkorpi, fit snowshoes at the trailhead and practise a short section on easy ground. Once everyone is comfortable with stride and bindings, we set out on a moderate trek through snowy forest and open glades chosen for depth and safety that day.
Light, temperature and snow quality shift quickly; your guide reads conditions rather than forcing a fixed map. Warm layers and steady pacing keep the trek comfortable.
Sipoonkorpi under snow is close enough for a capital-city trip yet feels distinctly arctic in mood, with animal tracks and laden branches along the route. The forest stays quiet in winter, which makes small sounds and fresh tracks easier to notice than in summer.
Snowshoeing suits curious visitors with moderate fitness who want an authentic Finnish winter day without downhill ski skills. If you have never tried snowshoes before, the short practice at the trailhead is usually enough to feel confident on the main loop.
Dress for several hours in cold air with insulated, waterproof outer layers and boots that work with bindings. Previous snowshoe experience is not required.
If anyone in the party feels the cold quickly, say so when booking, and we can shorten the trek or choose more sheltered forest loops. Hand warmers, spare gloves and a thermos in your pack make a real difference on still winter days.
We supply snowshoes sized to your boots and teach efficient stride on fresh or packed snow before committing to longer sections. That short coaching at the start prevents sore calves later and keeps the group moving at a shared pace.
Winter light is limited, so our winter itineraries respect daylight and wind chill, details that matter on a snowshoe day near Helsinki. We would rather finish slightly earlier in good light than push on into a dark, icy trailhead return.
Your guide collects you in Helsinki with a check that everyone has warm layers, then drives to Sipoonkorpi as daylight is used carefully for the trek ahead. The van ride is a good moment to ask about clothing, snacks and the pace you want on the trail before we reach the park.
At the trailhead you step into snowshoes, practise a short section with your guide and discuss how to walk efficiently on fresh or packed snow. Bindings and stride feel different on fresh snow versus packed trails, and your guide coaches that during the first easy section.
You follow your guide through snowy forest, pausing to listen for birds, read animal tracks and enjoy the bright winter light between the trees. Photo stops and quiet listening breaks are built in, so the walk feels observational rather than a march to a finish line.
Snowshoes are collected and you ride back to Helsinki with rosy cheeks and quiet satisfaction from a true Finnish winter day. We can drop you at your hotel or another agreed point in the Helsinki region, with time for last questions about restaurants or saunas nearby.
Your guide collects you from your Helsinki hotel, the airport, or another agreed central meeting point. Exact pickup time is confirmed after you book.
We collect you in Helsinki before driving to Sipoonkorpi winter trailheads, and exact pickup times follow once your booking is confirmed. Once your date is confirmed we send the exact meeting time and location by email or Adventuro chat.
Daylight is short in midwinter, so pickup may be earlier than on our summer hikes, and we talk through that when we confirm your date. If you are staying outside the inner city, mention your address when you enquire and we will confirm whether pickup still works comfortably.
Snowshoe fitting, practice and trekking usually sit comfortably inside a five-hour outing once transfers from Helsinki are included. Breaks for snacks, photos and conversation are built into the rhythm of the day rather than squeezed in at the end.
Pace stays steady so everyone stays warm, and if someone feels the cold we shorten the route or choose more sheltered forest rather than pushing on. Your guide checks comfort regularly and adjusts pace or route length if the group prefers a slower or brisker day.
The listed price bundles two guests, snowshoe hire, guiding and van transport for this private winter snowshoeing day. The total you pay through Adventuro matches the written quote we send before you confirm your date.
Each additional adult beyond the two included guests is €50 per person, with the full party total confirmed upfront before you pay. If your group size changes after booking, contact us early so we can adjust the quote before the day.
Snowshoes are included and fitted to your boots at the trailhead, while you bring insulated clothing, gloves, a hat and winter boots that work with bindings. If you are unsure what to wear for Finnish forest conditions in your travel month, ask when you book and we will suggest a practical kit list.
Poles are not always necessary, and after seeing snow depth your guide will suggest whether they are worth carrying. Your guide carries group safety items and chooses routes that fit ground and weather on the morning of the activity.
No prior experience is required: we teach stride and turning on flat ground before we head into longer forest sections. We coach technique on easy ground before committing to longer sections so everyone feels confident on the trail.
If balance is a concern, mention it when you book so we can favour gentler terrain and keep the day relaxed. Mention fitness or balance concerns when you book so we can favour gentler terrain without losing the outdoor experience.
Extreme cold, whiteout or thawing ice may mean we reschedule, because winter comfort and safety depend heavily on conditions. Safety calls on the morning of the activity are always final, and we would rather reschedule than push on in poor conditions.
We watch forecasts and contact you if a safer window is needed, rather than hoping the weather improves at the last minute. We watch forecasts in the days before your date and contact you early if we need to discuss a safer window.
Winter outdoor activities should be covered by your leisure travel policy for your trip to Finland, including guided snowshoeing on forest trails near Helsinki. Check that guided outdoor activities during your trip to Finland are included under your leisure travel policy.
We do not sell travel or medical insurance alongside the trek, so confirm that slips on snow or cold-related illness are covered under the policy you already hold for the holiday. We do not sell travel or medical cover alongside the booking, so arrange your own policy before you travel.
Cold exposure and several hours on snowshoes suit adults best, though families sometimes enquire for a private winter day tailored to their group. Message us with ages and walking experience when you enquire and we will answer honestly about distance and pacing.
Child-sized snowshoes may not always be available, so discuss ages before you book and we will tell you honestly what is feasible. Because the day is private, we can shorten routes or add breaks when the group includes mixed stamina levels.
Winter weekends and holiday weeks book early, and we usually ask for at least three days’ notice to line up gear and guiding. Autumn colour weekends, summer Saturdays and school holiday weeks tend to fill earlier than midweek dates.
When fresh snow coincides with a free calendar, last-minute magic happens, so it is worth asking even if you are booking late. Last-minute requests are welcome when the calendar allows, and we reply quickly when we cannot staff a date.
We guide in Finnish or English on the snow according to your preference, and short coaching phrases for stride and turning are easier when we agree the language before we leave the trailhead. Tell us your preference when you book so we match you with a guide who is comfortable leading the whole day in that language.
Winter ecology and reading animal tracks in snow are popular themes if you want the day to lean educational as well as scenic, and your guide can slow the pace for translation when needed. If you want more ecology, local culture or photography on the trail, mention it in your message and we will plan with that in mind.

Private hikes, snowshoe days, e-fat bike outings and nature education are built around small groups and unhurried pacing, with routes chosen for the season and your interests.
Pick-up is usually from your hotel or another agreed meeting point, so you can focus on the walk rather than logistics. Tours are aimed at adult travellers who want clear guidance in the wild, from Sipoonkorpi and Nuuksio to longer trips toward Liesjärvi and Hyvinkää. You bring your own clothing and footwear; your guide handles the plan, stories and safe routing on the day.
