Snowshoes take you into quiet forest about 40 kilometres from Rovaniemi, after we collect you and kit you with a warm jacket and boots. The outing lasts four hours, with pickup and drop-off within 10 kilometres of the city centre. Before you walk, your guide shows you how the shoes sit on snow.
We collect you from your stay, give you a warm jacket and boots, then drive about 40 kilometres out of Rovaniemi to a private destination. At the trail your guide shows you how to walk in snowshoes before anyone heads into the trees, so the first steps stay calm and you can feel how the frames sit on the snow.
The rest of the four hours is walking through quiet forest on those shoes, with time to settle into the pace rather than a race. The destination stays private to your group. When the walk ends we drop you back within 10 kilometres of the city centre. Be ready five minutes before the pickup time we send you.
The walk starts about 40 kilometres from Rovaniemi, in quiet forest rather than a busy public trail. You travel there with us after pickup, so you do not need to find the destination yourself.
Pickup and drop-off run within 10 kilometres of Rovaniemi city centre. Share your hotel or cabin address so we can plan both ends of the run, and be ready five minutes before the time we send you.
No snowshoeing experience is required. Your guide shows you how to use the shoes on snow before you head into the forest, so you are not expected to know the kit before you arrive. The outing needs at least two people.
You should be comfortable walking for a few hours in Finnish winter weather, which can reach about -30°C. Wear warm layers under the jacket and boots we give you. Tell us who is coming so we can shape the session around your group.
Quiet forest walking is still shown by Finnish guides who have worked this winter landscape since 1979, now in a third generation of the same family. They keep the outing to your own group on a private destination, with time to learn the shoes rather than a rush into the trees.
A warm jacket, boots and the snowshoe kit are part of the four hours, and we drive you the 40 kilometres out and back. The walk is about quiet forest time, not a crowded public trail.
We collect you from your stay within 10 kilometres of Rovaniemi city centre and fit a warm jacket and boots. Please be ready five minutes before the time we send you. Your guide then drives about 40 kilometres out of the city to a private forest destination.
Before anyone heads into the trees, your guide shows you how to walk in snowshoes on snow. The first steps stay calm so you can feel how the frames sit and how to turn. Wear your own warm layers under the kit, as you will go straight onto the trail.
The rest of the four hours is walking through quiet forest on those shoes, on a private destination rather than a busy public trail. When the walk ends we drop you back within 10 kilometres of Rovaniemi city centre.
You do not need any snowshoe background. Your guide shows you how the shoes sit on snow before you head into the forest, and the first steps stay calm so you can feel the frames under your feet.
The four hours are an easy walk rather than a race. Questions are welcome while you are on the trail, and we can linger if you want more time to settle into the stride.
This is an easy outing rather than a long hike. You should be comfortable walking for a few hours in deep snow, in Finnish winter weather that can reach about -30°C.
Dress in warm layers you can add or remove under the jacket we give you. We can pause so you can warm your hands and take a breath before the next stretch.
The outing needs at least two people, and groups can be up to 15. Tell us the ages in your group so we can say whether the walk and the four hours will suit everyone who wants to come.
Everyone who joins should be able to walk in snowshoes and follow simple safety instructions. Bring extra layers for younger guests, as they cool down faster once you stop moving.
Wear warm layers under the jacket and boots we give you, plus a hat and gloves of your own if you have them. We supply the warm-up jacket, boots and the snowshoe kit.
Bring sunglasses if the snow is bright, and a small dry bag for your phone. Have your hotel or cabin address ready so we can plan pickup and drop-off within 10 kilometres of Rovaniemi city centre.
Lapland winter air can reach about -30°C, so treat this as a proper cold-weather walk. The jacket and boots we give you are there for that, and you should still wear warm layers underneath.
If you feel the cold quickly, say so on the trail. We can pause, add a layer, or shorten a stretch so you stay comfortable enough to enjoy the forest.
The outing is four hours in all. After pickup your guide drives you about 40 kilometres from Rovaniemi to a private destination, then you walk in snowshoes through quiet forest.
Pickup and drop-off sit within 10 kilometres of the city centre. Be ready five minutes before the time we send you. We will confirm timings once we have your address.
The session needs a sound winter trail, so we watch the temperature and the state of the snow before we set out. A sudden thaw, very high wind or unsafe ground can mean we have to move your time or stop the day.
If we cannot run, we will be in touch as early as we can with the next step. Please treat this as a winter walk that depends on the forest staying walkable, not as an indoor session.
Pickup and drop-off are included if your hotel or cabin sits within 10 kilometres of Rovaniemi city centre. Share the address in advance, and please be ready five minutes before the time we send you.
Stays outside that radius are not part of this outing. If you are coming from further out, you will need to make your own way to a pickup we can reach, or travel into Rovaniemi first.
Meals and drinks are not part of this outing, so eat before we collect you or bring a small snack of your own. The day is about the snowshoe walk, not a sit-down meal in the forest.
Pack the warm layers you already own under the jacket we give you. If you have questions about what we will have with us on the day, ask us in advance.
This outing is snowshoeing only. You walk in quiet forest on snowshoes after a short lesson at the trail, with a warm jacket, boots and the kit included.
If you want time over a hole on a frozen lake, choose one of the ice fishing outings instead. Those are separate sessions, not part of this four hour walk.

About the centre
Rovaniemi
You'll spend your days on private forest and lake land outside Rovaniemi, where ice-track driving, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and fishing sit alongside quiet time by the fire. This is a family that has been looking after visitors in Finnish Lapland since 1979, now in its third generation, with Finnish guides who know the ground.
We'll collect you from around Rovaniemi, kit you for the cold, and keep the outing to your own group on private land. Jesse and the team shape each session around how you want to spend the day, from a first hour on the ice track to a longer evening under the northern lights.
