Pollino is one of southern Italy's big mountain parks, the sort of place where snow turns forest into a quieter country. Two and a half hours of snowshoeing from Rifugio Fasanelli, near Rotonda, is a short door into that massif: a small group, a named refuge, and trails that follow the snow you actually get. Groups run from two to fifteen guests, so the briefing stays personal without turning the forest into a crowd.
You meet at the refuge, fit snowshoes, and follow the guide into winter forest and open snow. The product does not publish a peak name or a kilometre count, so the day is a guided park walk rather than a named summit assault. Italian or English guiding may both be available.
You return to Rifugio Fasanelli after about two and a half hours. Dress for snow. Easy does not mean a city coat. The refuge is the start and the finish, which is a kindness on a massif that can feel huge in cloud.
Pollino National Park straddles Basilicata and Calabria. This start is Rifugio Fasanelli near Rotonda in the province of Potenza: high country, forest, and a proper winter massif, a long way from Matera's ravines.
The drive south from Matera is real, and winter roads into Pollino can be slow. Navigate to the refuge, not only to Rotonda village.
Fitness for 2.5 hours of easy snowshoeing. No ski qualification required. A minimum age is not stated. Groups need at least two guests.
Tell the team about circulation problems or recent injury before you arrive. Winter clothing is yours to bring.
Groups stay between two and fifteen, so the briefing stays personal on a massif that can feel huge in cloud. You start at Rifugio Fasanelli, a named hut you can actually find, not a lay-by on a mountain road.
A local guide turns the line to the snow you get that day. It is a genuine winter walk in Pollino: forest, open snow and a refuge you return to, rather than a mystery mountain with hired kit and no plan.
Meet the guide at Rifugio Fasanelli in Localita Pedarreto, near Rotonda. You hear the plan for the Pollino trails that day, check clothing, and fit snowshoes at the refuge before you step onto the snow.
Walk snow-covered trails in Pollino National Park with the guide. Forest, open snow and park views replace a city path. The exact line follows snow and weather. No peak name is published on this product, so the park itself is the outing.
Time on the snow for views and a quieter stretch of park, still within the 2.5-hour slot. Your guide keeps the group together and turns the day if wind or thaw makes a longer loop unwise.
Return to Rifugio Fasanelli, hand back the snowshoes, and close the outing at the same refuge. You finish where you started, with the forest still in your legs, and no onward transfer as part of this product.

About two and a half hours of guided snowshoeing in Pollino National Park. The grade is easy. You walk snow-covered trails with a guide, not a ski piste.

Italian or English guiding may both be available. You are not sent onto the massif alone. The guide turns the day if wind or thaw makes a longer loop unwise.
Snow-covered trails and winter forest in Pollino National Park, with a guide who knows the massif. The product does not name a specific peak or kilometre count, so we do not invent one.
Views depend on cloud and snow. Treat the park itself as the destination, not a guaranteed summit photo.
Warm layers, waterproofs, gloves, a hat, sunglasses, and winter boots that take a snowshoe binding. Bring water and a snack.
Snowshoes are fitted at the refuge start. Full clothing hire is not listed, so arrive dressed for Pollino in winter.

This outing needs snow and safe mountain weather. High wind, poor visibility, or a thaw that strips the trail can stop or shorten the day.
The team should contact you if the forecast is unsafe. A grey sky with good snow is often still a going day.
