Set within the eastern Tian Shan Mountains, Jyrgalan Valley has earned a reputation as one of Central Asia's finest ski touring destinations. Reliable snowfall, varied terrain and minimal crowds create excellent conditions for both ski touring and freeride adventures throughout the winter season.
This eight-day trip combines avalanche safety training, guided ski touring and discovery of some of the valley's best backcountry terrain. From sheltered powder-filled forests to wide-open mountain slopes, each day offers new routes and fresh opportunities to experience the winter landscapes of Kyrgyzstan.
After arriving in Bishkek, you'll drive east past Issyk-Kul Lake to Jyrgalan Valley and settle into your guesthouse. Days 2 and 3 focus on avalanche awareness and introductory tours on nearby slopes, building skills and confidence before venturing further.
From Day 4, snowmobiles assist access to more remote terrain as you tour powder glades, ridges and open faces selected daily for snow quality and group ability. A final morning on Day 7 precedes the return to Bishkek, with departure from Manas Airport on Day 8.

After arriving in Bishkek, you'll meet your guide and begin the drive east towards Jyrgalan Valley. The route follows the shores of the famous Issyk-Kul Lake and passes beneath the snow-covered peaks of the Tian Shan Mountains.
Upon arrival, you'll settle into your guesthouse and enjoy a traditional dinner while discussing the plans for the week ahead.
The first days focus on avalanche awareness and mountain safety. Training sessions cover the use of avalanche beacons, probes and shovels, along with decision-making techniques for travelling safely in backcountry terrain.
Following the training, you'll begin touring the surrounding slopes. The valley's protected location helps create excellent snow conditions, making these first tours an ideal introduction to the region.
With familiarity and confidence growing, attention turns to more remote areas of the valley. Snowmobiles assist with access, allowing more time to focus on skiing and discovering new lines.
Each day offers a choice of descents through different terrain types, from powder-filled glades to open mountain faces. Guides select routes based on conditions, ensuring the best possible skiing opportunities throughout the trip.
A final morning in the mountains provides one last opportunity to enjoy the snow before leaving Jyrgalan behind.
Later in the day, you'll return to Bishkek for a farewell dinner and a final evening reflecting on the week's adventures.
Following breakfast, you'll transfer to Manas International Airport for your onward flight home. Your guide assists with timing and logistics, giving you a relaxed final morning after a week of backcountry skiing in Jyrgalan Valley.
Many guests choose to extend their stay in Bishkek to visit the city markets or Issyk-Kul Lake before flying home. Your guides can advise on optional extensions if you wish to continue your Kyrgyz adventure.
