Casas de Don Pedro sits within Extremadura's chain of reservoirs in south west Spain, with bass, pike, zander and barbel spread across several connected, quiet stretches of water. Fishing here without a guide rewards a bit of local knowledge or a willingness to explore.
García Sola, Orellana, Cíjara, Zújar and La Serena are all within reach, though a single day usually means focusing on one or two rather than covering all of them. The lodge can suggest general areas if asked before you head out.
This rental is self-drive, so you should be comfortable operating a small boat without a guide. Guests should be at least 10 years old and within a maximum weight of 120kg for boat safety reasons. If you have no boat handling experience, the guided day option is likely to suit you better.
This option exists for anglers who want independence rather than a guided day, while still having the boat, permits, fuel and insurance sorted in advance. It removes the admin without removing the freedom to fish your own way.
Bruce and the lodge are on hand for general pointers if you want them, but the day itself is entirely yours to run. Catch and release is expected, in keeping with how the reservoirs are managed.
