You'll walk on the seabed in crystal-clear water off Playa de las Américas while breathing normally inside a SeaTREK helmet. No diving licence or swimming experience is needed, and your head stays dry so glasses and piercings can stay on. Two instructors look after a group of up to four, so you always have a guide beside you under the surface.
We meet you beside the large green Centro Comercial sign on Paseo Tarajal, then fit your wetsuit, footwear and helmet while we explain how the surface-supplied air system works. You practise standing and breathing in shallow water before we walk out together, with one instructor leading and another watching the group.
Once you are comfortable, you descend gradually to explore sandy seabed and local fish at a calm pace. The helmet keeps airflow steady, so you breathe as you would on land. When your guided walk ends, we help you back to shore, dry off and look through any photos from the session.
Playa de las Américas sits on Tenerife's sunny south-west coast, where the Atlantic stays clear and sheltered enough for first-time underwater walks. The meeting point on Paseo Tarajal is easy to spot next to the green Centro Comercial sign, with cafés and shops nearby if you arrive early.
After your session you are already in one of the island's busiest resort areas, so you can combine the dive with an afternoon on the beach or an evening meal along the promenade. Parking and taxis are usually straightforward along the front.
You do not need to know how to swim or hold a diving certificate. We welcome non-swimmers, families and anyone who has never been in the sea, as long as you feel happy to follow simple instructions in the water.
Guests from 8 years can join. Minors should come with a responsible adult, and we may ask for height and wetsuit size when we fit your kit. Please tell us about serious heart, lung or ear conditions before you book so we can advise you honestly.
We cap sessions at four guests and put two instructors in the water so you are never left on your own during the walk. Briefings are calm and step by step, in Spanish, English, French, Italian, Romanian or Arabic when we know your preference in advance.
The SeaTREK system keeps your head dry and your hands free, which makes it easier to relax and look at fish than with a mask and regulator. Locker space and full kit are included, so you only need a swimsuit and towel on the day.
We greet you at the meeting point, check your booking details and help you into your wetsuit and footwear. Your instructor explains how the SeaTREK helmet delivers air from the surface, how to equalise your ears, and the hand signals we use in the water.
You have time to ask questions before we enter the shallows to practise standing and breathing. This preparation usually takes around 30 minutes so nobody feels rushed.
With an instructor on each side of the small group, you walk along the seabed in clear water up to about 5 metres deep. The helmet keeps your head dry while you look for local fish and get used to the light, slow steps of the SeaTREK walk.
Your personal guide stays with you for roughly 20 to 25 minutes underwater, adjusting the pace to how comfortable you feel. If you want to stay shallower, we stay shallower.
Back on shore we help you remove the helmet and wetsuit, rinse off and use the lockers. If photos were taken during the walk, we review them with you before you leave.
Plan a little time after the water session in case you want to buy images or ask about another visit. The full experience, including changing, is about 1 hour 30 minutes end to end.
Meet on Paseo Tarajal, 340, Playa de las Américas, beside the large green Centro Comercial sign. If you are driving, look for promenade parking along Tarajal and allow a few extra minutes to walk to the sign.
Local buses and taxis serve Playa de las Américas from across the south of Tenerife. Share your hotel name when you book if you need help recognising the meeting spot, and arrive a little early so we can fit wetsuits before your slot.
Bring a swimsuit, a towel and dry clothes for afterwards. Sunscreen is fine on exposed skin before you suit up.
We provide the helmet, wetsuit, footwear and locker. Leave valuables in the locker or at your hotel, and mention glasses or piercings when we fit the helmet so we can check the seal feels comfortable.
No. Many of our guests are non-swimmers. The helmet floats you comfortably and an instructor stays beside you from the moment you enter the water.
You should still feel happy to stand in the sea and follow simple instructions. We begin in shallow water so you can gain confidence before we walk out.
Children from 8 years can take part when accompanied by a responsible adult. We keep groups small so instructors can give extra attention to younger guests.
We may ask for a child's height and wetsuit size in advance so kit fitting is quick on the day. If anyone feels unsure in the water, we slow the session down or stay in the shallows.
Yes. The SeaTREK helmet seals around your shoulders and delivers a steady flow of air, so your head stays dry throughout the walk. Many guests keep glasses on, and light makeup or piercings are usually fine.
Your instructor checks the fit before you go deeper. Tell us if anything feels tight or uncomfortable so we can adjust before you start.
We walk in a controlled site down to about 5 metres. That depth is bright, calm and well within the limits of the surface-supplied system.
You descend only as quickly as you feel comfortable equalising your ears. Instructors can keep you shallower for the whole walk if you prefer.
Plan for around 20 to 25 minutes of guided walking on the seabed. The full appointment, including briefing, kit and changing, lasts about 1 hour 30 minutes.
Arrive a few minutes early so we can start on time. Late arrivals may shorten the underwater portion if the next group is waiting.
Wear a swimsuit under your clothes and bring a towel plus dry clothes for afterwards. Sandals or flip-flops are handy on the promenade.
We supply the wetsuit, helmet, footwear and locker space. Sunscreen on exposed skin is fine before you suit up.
We meet at Paseo Tarajal, 340, Playa de las Américas, next to the large green Centro Comercial sign. It is on the seafront and easy to spot from the promenade.
If you use a taxi, ask for the Centro Comercial sign on Tarajal. Message us after booking if you want a map pin sent to your phone.
Do not book this activity on the same day you fly. Flying soon after any in-water pressure exposure can risk decompression illness.
Leave at least 24 hours between your seabed walk and your flight home, or choose a date earlier in your holiday.
We only run when sea conditions are safe for helmet walks. If wind or swell makes the site unsuitable, we contact you to reschedule or refund.
Light rain on shore does not always stop us, because you will be in the water anyway. Your safety decision always comes from the instructors on the day.
Small groups let two instructors stay in the water with you at all times. That ratio keeps briefings personal and means help is always within arm's reach.
It also keeps the seabed walk calm for first-timers and families. If you travel as a larger party, we may split you across consecutive slots.
