Experience a full glacier adventure on Sólheimajökull combining guided glacier hiking, a private ice climbing session, and a zip line across the glacier. Guests receive professional instruction for all activities and are photographed by an expert adventure photographer. The itinerary includes glacier formations, moulins, and crevasses while providing a safe, fun, and engaging adventure in small private groups.
Your adventure begins at the Sólheimajökull glacier parking lot, where guides provide all equipment, including crampons, harness, helmet, and optional hiking boots. Guests start with a 40-minute hike across flat and slightly rocky terrain to reach the glacier edge, with pace adapted to the group’s comfort.
Once on the glacier, the hike continues toward the moulin where the zip line is set up. Along the way, guides point out glacier features such as moulins, crevasses, and ice formations. Each participant is securely harnessed for the zip line, with professional photographs captured during every stage. For those who prefer, ‘No-fly’ tickets allow observation from the glacier while family or friends take the zip line.
Guests who opt for a private ice climbing session are guided on safe techniques for using ice axes and crampons. Beginners and experienced climbers alike can ascend vertical ice walls at their own pace, while the guide captures professional action photos. After completing the activities, guests return to the glacier parking lot for the conclusion of the tour.
