Your group picks up to two guided activities on the Rio Bueno, tubing, rafting, kayaking or river boarding, then Jamaican lunch, drinks and beach time at Bengal Bay. We bring you back to your Montego Bay hotel.
After we pick you up in Montego Bay, the fun really starts at the river. Guides fit helmets and life jackets for up to two activities you chose: tubing through rainforest pools, team rafting, partner kayaking or river boarding, with rope-swing stops when the water allows.
Both runs go downstream through gentler class one and two water toward the coast. The base checks age and weight before anyone launches. Tubing suits many families from about eight years. Kayaking and river boarding need stronger swimming. You finish at Bengal Beach for lunch, drinks and a swim, then a private ride home. Heritage houses are only roadside chat if timing allows.
The day runs from the river base inland at Rio Bueno to white sand at Bengal Beach, where the river meets the Caribbean. Most of the day is on the water rather than in the van, though where you stay in Montego Bay still sets the morning start.
Pickup is from Montego Bay area hotels on this format. If you want extra beach time before the return, say so, because the sand is a good place to linger after two river runs.
You must be comfortable in moving water and honest about how well you swim. River boarding and kayaking are the sharper options. Tubing is the gentler one for mixed families.
We will ask for passenger weights so we can put people on the right craft. Mention non-swimmers early. Swimwear, grippy water shoes and a dry change belong in the bag for the ride back.
Two river activities without sharing the van is why groups pick this. You can pair a gentle float with a sharper run the same day and still sit down to lunch together at Bengal Bay.
The inland drive from Montego Bay is one we do all the time, so you are not sorting a put-in, two activities and a beach transfer as three problems. Lunch and drinks at the river mouth are already on the details we send you.
We pick you up from Montego Bay hotels, and the inland drive is when you confirm which two river activities the base should prepare. Rose Hall or Greenwood may appear from the road if the morning has a little slack.
Dry bags at the river help with phones and keys. Stow loose valuables before you gear up rather than discovering them in a pocket on the first rapid.
Helmets and life jackets go on for your first craft, tubing, rafting, kayaking or river boarding on splashy but not extreme water. Rope-swing swims appear when guides like the line and the group is happy to stop.
Age and weight rules are checked at the base before anyone launches. This first run is where you get a feel for the river before the second activity starts.
Your second activity continues the run downstream through rainforest pools and faster water toward the coast. Guides stay with your group the whole way, so mixed abilities can still travel together.
Kayaking and river boarding are harder than tubing. If one person wants the gentler craft, say so at the base rather than halfway down the river.
The river opens onto white sand at Bengal Bay, where Jamaican lunch, drinks and a swim close the water sports. Reggae on the beach is the soundtrack while you rinse off and eat.
There are usually facilities for a rinse nearby before the van heads back to Montego Bay. Drop-off is the hotel you left, and the driver will confirm the entrance after a full river day.
We collect your private group from Montego Bay area hotels. Share property name and party size when you book so the driver can confirm the morning pickup window.
Return drop-off uses the same hotel after Bengal Beach.
Private departures collect your party from Montego Bay area hotels. Share property name and group size when you reserve so we assign the right vehicle for the inland drive.
Return drop-off is at the same hotel after beach time unless you agree otherwise with your driver.
Your private reservation includes up to two guided activities chosen from jungle tubing, kayaking, white-water rafting or river boarding on class one and two sections. Confirm your choices when you book so guides prepare the right gear.
Each craft has age and weight guidance the crew reviews at the river base. Message us before travel if you want any detail double-checked so pickup and timing feel clear on the day.
Tubing suits guests from about eight years with lazy pools between rapids, while kayaking and river boarding skew toward older teens and adults with stronger swimming confidence. Rafting fits mixed groups with teamwork on the oars.
Share ages and sizes when you reserve so we can advise on pairings. Message us before travel if you want any detail double-checked so pickup and timing feel clear on the day.
Sessions follow the Rio Bueno downstream through rainforest pools, rope-swing stops and splashing class two sections until you emerge at Bengal Bay on the coast. Guides stay with your private group for both segments.
Dry bags on site help protect small valuables during splashy runs. Message us before travel if you want any detail double-checked so pickup and timing feel clear on the day.
Authentic Jamaican lunch, drinks and beach time at Bengal Bay are included after the river activities finish at the white sand mouth of the river. Allow about an hour to eat, swim and relax before the drive back.
Mention dietary preferences when you book so the team can advise what is available. Message us before travel if you want any detail double-checked so pickup and timing feel clear on the day.
Heritage great houses such as Rose Hall or Greenwood may be viewed from the road with commentary en route to the river when timing allows. These are photo pauses rather than ticketed mansion tours.
Your driver focuses on getting you to the river with time for both activities. Message us before travel if you want any detail double-checked so pickup and timing feel clear on the day.
Water shoes, swimwear, a towel and sunblock are essential for put-ins and Bengal Beach. Secure footwear with grip helps on rocky banks and rope-swing areas.
Bring a change of clothes for the air-conditioned return drive. Message us before travel if you want any detail double-checked so pickup and timing feel clear on the day.
Heavy rain can raise river levels and operators may substitute or shorten activities for safety. Light tropical showers often still allow a fun run with adjusted lines.
Keep phones reachable on travel morning for any timing updates from your driver. Message us before travel if you want any detail double-checked so pickup and timing feel clear on the day.
Private transport keeps your group together from hotel pickup through both river segments and beach lunch without sharing the day with unrelated guests. Pacing can flex slightly when you talk with guides on site.

About the centre
Rio Bueno
We run guided day trips and private excursions across Jamaica's north coast, from Montego Bay and Falmouth to Runaway Bay and the resort corridors guests know best. Whether you want waterfall climbs, lagoon evenings, safari boats on the Black River, or a mix of culture and coast, we keep pickup simple and the day moving at a relaxed island pace.
Our drivers and guides live and work in the communities we visit, so you get clear briefings, honest timing, and help choosing the right outing for your hotel base. We focus on safe transport, included admissions where the package allows, and time in the water and on the trails rather than rushed photo stops.
