At MaiTantBikes, we don't follow fixed itineraries. Every ride is carefully designed according to your riding ability, fitness level, interests, weather conditions and trail conditions, ensuring the best possible experience on the day.
Whether you're looking for panoramic mountain views, peaceful forests, hidden valleys or a more technical adventure, we'll create the perfect experience for you.
Our local guides don't simply lead the ride—they share the history, culture, wildlife and natural heritage of the region, allowing you to discover the Pyrenees from a completely different perspective.
This experience takes place in the Pallars Sobirà region of the Catalan Pyrenees, close to the mountain town of Sort. The route travels through sections of the Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu, an area known for its extensive forests, mountain peaks and open alpine landscapes.
Away from busy tourist areas, these mountains provide a sense of space and freedom that is difficult to find elsewhere. Riders may encounter grazing livestock, traditional mountain refuges and a variety of native wildlife while travelling through one of Catalonia's most important protected natural areas.
Participants should be comfortable riding a bicycle and have a reasonable level of fitness. While the electric mountain bikes provide valuable assistance on the climbs, this remains a physically demanding route with significant elevation gain and several hours of riding.
Children can often join using appropriately sized e-MTBs, subject to height, cycling experience and a suitability assessment. Riders should be prepared for changing mountain weather conditions and capable of handling uneven off-road terrain.
Led by a qualified mountain bike instructor and experienced local guide, this route combines premium equipment with extensive local knowledge. The experience is designed not only to showcase the riding opportunities of the region but also its natural, cultural and historical heritage.
Small groups help create a more personalised experience, while carefully maintained bikes, route support and flexible logistics allow participants to focus entirely on enjoying the ride and the mountain environment.
Our experiences are suitable for a wide range of riders, from beginners to experienced mountain bikers.
Rather than offering fixed routes, we tailor every experience to our guests' riding ability, confidence, fitness level and expectations. This allows us to choose the most suitable terrain and distance, ensuring everyone enjoys the ride safely and comfortably.
For guests with little or no mountain biking experience, we recommend choosing one of our easier experiences, where the focus is on enjoying the scenery and discovering the natural and cultural heritage of the area.
Electric mountain bikes make climbing much more enjoyable, but a basic level of confidence riding a bicycle is still recommended to get the most from the experience.
The route follows mountain forest tracks throughout. Riders can expect a mixture of compact gravel surfaces, hard-packed dirt, loose stone and occasional sandy sections.
While there are no highly technical singletrack trails, some descents require concentration and good bike control, particularly where the surface becomes loose.
Yes, regular stops are built into the experience. These allow riders to rest, take photographs, enjoy the scenery and learn more about the area's history, wildlife and landscapes from the guide.
The route passes through habitats that support a variety of mountain wildlife. Depending on the season and conditions, riders may spot birds of prey circling above the valleys.
Marmots, Pyrenean chamois and a wide range of alpine plant species can also be found throughout the area, particularly in quieter sections of the route.
Participants should bring sufficient water, snacks or energy food, sun protection and clothing suitable for mountain conditions. Weather can change quickly at higher elevations, even during warmer months.
Comfortable cycling clothing and sturdy footwear are recommended to help make the ride as enjoyable as possible.
Yes, the route can be enjoyed as either a private experience or within a small guided group. Private tours allow the pace and focus of the day to be adapted more closely to the participants' preferences.
Larger groups can also be accommodated, with additional guides provided when needed to maintain safety and quality throughout the experience.
Yes, a premium full-suspension electric mountain bike is included as part of the guided experience. The bikes are professionally maintained and prepared before every outing.
A helmet with MIPS protection is also provided, ensuring participants have the essential equipment required for the route.
