This trip is all about learning to ski off-piste using lift-accessed terrain. You'll develop the skills and confidence to handle mixed snow conditions while understanding the techniques needed to explore beyond the marked runs. Perfect for skiers looking to take the next step toward backcountry and ski touring adventures, this course provides a solid foundation with expert coaching in one of the world’s most famous ski destinations.
As a company founded by Kenton Cool, an 18-time Everest summiteer, we understand what it takes to create unforgettable experiences. Based in the Alps, we have an in-depth knowledge of the region and a genuine love for the mountains. We would love to help you develop your off-piste confidence - there's so much to explore!
Day 1: Arrival in Chamonix
Meet your guide and fellow skiers at the accommodation for a welcome briefing and dinner. This is a chance to go through the plan for the week, ask any last-minute questions, and get to know the group.
Day 2: Introduction to Off-Piste Skiing
Start with warm-up runs on the pistes before gradually moving into gentle off-piste terrain. Focus on developing fundamental skills such as balance, weight distribution, and adapting to different snow types. In the afternoon, cover basic avalanche safety, including how to use a transceiver, probe, and shovel.
Day 3: Expanding Skills and Exploring More Terrain
Build on what you've learned by moving into more varied and challenging terrain. Expect longer off-piste descents and opportunities to ski untouched powder if conditions allow. The guide will focus on refining techniques and helping you adapt to different snow conditions.
Day 4: Classic Off-Piste Routes
Put your skills to the test on some of Chamonix’s iconic off-piste runs. Depending on the conditions, this could include the legendary Vallée Blanche or the excellent terrain at Les Grands Montets. The guide will tailor the day to the group’s ability and confidence levels. Enjoy a final group dinner to celebrate the experience.
Day 5: Departure
Check out after breakfast and say goodbye to the group. If needed, arrangements can be made to depart on the evening of Day 4 instead.
Chamonix is one of the world’s most renowned ski destinations, offering incredible off-piste opportunities and gorgeous alpine scenery. The area boasts a wide range of lift-accessed terrain, providing everything from open powder fields to steep technical descents.
The town itself is a lively hub with great restaurants, bars, and shops, making it an ideal base for a ski trip.
You’ll stay in a comfortable mountain lodge within walking distance of Chamonix centre (photos below!). The lodge offers shared en suite rooms in twin, triple, or quad format, with a warm atmosphere and a cosy bar area. A hearty breakfast and dinner are included each day, ensuring you're well-fuelled for skiing.
There is a communal lounge area, perfect for relaxing in the evenings. If you would like a private room, please enquire in advance about availability and pricing.
You must be a confident skier on red runs and comfortable attempting black runs. A solid ski technique is required, but no prior off-piste experience is necessary.
A good level of fitness is important, as skiing off-piste requires more energy than skiing on groomed slopes.
With over 15 years of experience delivering high-quality adventures, our team is passionate about helping people develop their mountain skills. Every trip is carefully planned to provide the best possible experience, from expert guiding to effortless organisation.
