This is the step from a single crag route to a day that keeps going up. If you already manage a sport pitch, these two days, about eight hours each, are about stances, swapping belays without a tangle, and keeping the rope tidy when the limestone is longer than a gym wall. Your instructor is a mountain guide who specialises in rock climbing, the group stays at six or fewer, and you get enough repeats that the skills stick rather than watching a demonstration once.
We climb around Monachil and pick the sector for the season, so you spend the time moving between pitches and talking clearly with your partner instead of guessing at the stance. The way down is part of the fun too: a proper abseil, a calm recap, and a clear idea of what still needs work before you join a longer guided route. Lunch is food you bring, digital photos come with the days, and we can shift hours if the weather or the group suggests it so you get the useful time on the rock.
We teach in English or Spanish and keep the group to six people per guide, so you are actually coached rather than watched from the side. Your instructor is a mountain guide who specialises in rock climbing, and we look at the forecast so day two happens on the crag that will climb well that week around Granada. Harness, helmet, shoes and the group hardware are included, and we take digital photos and videos during the course.
Day one is for making the kit and the knots feel normal, with a proper lunch break in the middle. Day two is for using those skills on real limestone, plus a simple abseil and a bit of self-rescue. We would rather you leave knowing what to practise next, and which course to look at after this one, than rush through a checklist you will forget in a week.
We meet near Monachil, check harness, helmet and shoes, and spend about eight hours on longer sport pitches. You will practise building a stance, swapping the belay without a tangle, keeping the rope tidy when the pitch is longer than a gym wall, and talking clearly with your partner. There is a lunch stop on food you bring, and the group stays at six or fewer so there is time to repeat the same skills rather than watch a demonstration once.
A second day on similar limestone around Monachil, with more time moving between pitches and reading the rock. We will practise the descent, including abseil protocol, and talk through what you should keep working on before you join a longer guided route. If the weather or how the group is progressing suggests it, we can shift hours between the two days so you get the useful time on the rock.
Flexible clothing, sun protection, water and snacks for the duration. Approach shoes with grip suit most venues; bring a light waterproof and extra layer for mountain or coastal wind.
