Excellent day with the coach, learnt a lot and didn't fall off too many times. I can certainly recommend him.

A full day of private coaching designed to help you build confidence and refine your technique on the trails. Whether you're starting with the basics or looking to master advanced skills, the session is tailored to your level. Choose a structured progression or focus on specific skills, from body position and braking to jumps and bunny hops.
Coaching begins with an assessment of your current skill level and riding experience. If you're new to mountain biking, the session will start with fundamental techniques, focusing on balance, braking, and cornering. More experienced riders can dive straight into refining techniques or tackling specific challenges.
You'll work through key skills at a comfortable pace, with plenty of hands-on practice. Expect a mix of demonstration, feedback, and guided riding to help you apply techniques in real trail situations. The session is adaptable, so whether you want to fine-tune your jumps, build confidence on steep descents, or get better at technical climbs, the coaching will be shaped around your goals.
The day also includes discussions on bike setup, positioning, and trail awareness. There will be breaks for rest and refreshments, with options for a packed lunch stop or a café/pub break depending on the chosen route. By the end of the day, you'll have a stronger skill set, better control, and a plan for continued improvement.
Coaching takes place in and around Keswick, one of the best mountain biking spots in the Lake District. With a variety of trails available, the session can be run on terrain that matches your skill level and goals. Whether it's flowy singletrack, technical descents, or challenging climbs, there's no shortage of options to refine your riding.
Keswick is well connected for travel, with parking options and bike hire available nearby. If you're unfamiliar with the area, recommendations for accommodation and local facilities can be provided.
Participants should have a reasonable level of fitness and be comfortable riding off-road. The session is suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced riders looking to refine their technique.
A well-maintained mountain bike and a cycling helmet in good condition are required. If you need to hire a bike, recommendations can be provided. The age limit is 16 and over, but participants aged 10 and above are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
Rich, your coach, has over 20 years of experience riding in the Lake District and beyond. As a British Cycling Level 2 Mountain Bike Coach, he brings extensive knowledge and a relaxed coaching style that makes learning enjoyable and effective. His experience with the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team also means he has a strong understanding of safety on the trails.
Coaching sessions are always tailored to your individual needs, whether you're completely new to mountain biking or looking to push your skills further. With a mix of practical techniques, expert advice, and a supportive environment, you'll leave the session feeling more confident and capable on the trails.
Excellent day with the coach, learnt a lot and didn't fall off too many times. I can certainly recommend him.
Had a great time… wish I was more fit for more great time…
