See Sapporo from two very different heights on a full day that begins beneath old forest and ends high above the city at Okurayama. This guided experience combines an approachable Mount Maruyama hike with time around the Olympic Museum and ski jump observation deck, blending nature, local history and wide Hokkaido views.
Meet at Sapporo Station and travel to the base of Mount Maruyama. The morning hike follows a shaded forest route with dirt paths, wooden steps and some rocky sections, rising around 160 metres to the 225 metre summit.
After taking in the city and distant mountain views, descend at a measured pace and pause for lunch near the park. The afternoon continues to Okurayama, where the Olympic Museum introduces the winter-sport heritage of the city.
Finish with the chairlift to the top of the ski jump. From the observation deck, look down the dramatic landing slope and out across Sapporo before returning to the station in the early evening.
