You'll take a speedboat across the bay, then ride uphill by truck or mule into a canyon of ziplines, waterfall rappel, roller zip lines and a waterslide finale. One day blends boat transfer, forest canopy and wet canyon sections south of Puerto Vallarta. Guides belay rappel and zip stations and stay with you when queues or river level reorder the route.
Speedboat crossing from Nuevo Vallarta or the cruise pier leads into 4x4 or mule transfer uphill toward the first canopy platforms, with harness fitting and braking practice before the sequential zip stations open. Waterfall rappel runs with guide belay on rock beside the river, then the roller zip layout and waterslide drop into the pool finish the active block before hiking or riding back toward the boat.
River level and platform queues can reorder the middle stations slightly, but crew keep you paired with the same guide through belay and zip transitions for consistency. Expect to get wet and muddy, with meal or snack stops mid-day on standard departures when the base opens food service for the group.
The outdoor course sits in Sierra Madre foothills reached by boat and ridge transfer from marina check-in, with river pools and forest canopy framing rappel and zip lines. You see the bay again on the return crossing after the canyon segments, which helps orient the day as two distinct landscapes.
Trails between platforms can be steep or slick after rain, which is why mule or truck assist is part of the published route rather than a long unassisted hike for every guest. Sound of the river accompanies rappel and slide sections, and shade from trees breaks up sun exposure between stations.
Minimum age is eight years, and no prior zipline or rappel experience is required because guides brief and belay each station. Expect to get wet and muddy, and moderate fitness helps on mule riding, stairs between platforms and brief hikes.
We recommend good general health for a canyon day with waterfall rappel, canopy lines and a waterslide finish. Bring a change of clothes, extra shoes, insect repellent and biodegradable sunscreen, with closed-toe shoes that grip wet rock near the waterfall.
River-canyon adventures blend speedboat transfers with canopy and rappel stations our teams have operated for twenty-plus seasons on this coast. PADI five-star adventure standards show in belay checks at the waterfall and on the roller zip layout before the waterslide finale.
Bilingual guides coach mule or hiking segments between platforms so mixed fitness groups stay together without rushing the rappel block. Daily route choices follow river level and platform safety checks, which protects both pace and quality when weather changes mid-morning.
Meet at Nuevo Vallarta office or cruise pier depending for this departure. Bring photo ID.
Allow extra time for traffic near marinas during busy holiday weeks.
Change of clothes, extra shoes, towel, insect repellent, sunscreen, cash.
Guests aged eight and older are welcome with a responsible adult where required. You need closed-toe shoes, a head for heights on the canopy lines, and a willingness to rappel beside a waterfall with a guide on the rope.
We recommend good general health and moderate fitness. Mule or hiking segments link stations, so this is more than a single zip and back.
Check in at Paseo de las Palmas 39 in Nuevo Vallarta before the speedboat and 4x4 transfer to the river base. Bring photo ID and wear shoes you can hike in.
Arrive early. The boat will not wait for late harness fits, and hotel-zone traffic toward Las Palmas is slow on weekend mornings.
Make your own way to the Nuevo Vallarta office. Hotel collection is not part of this day unless staff confirm a pickup for your hotel that morning.
Transport to and from the meeting point is your responsibility. Speedboat and 4x4 moves between stations are included once you have checked in.
A meal or snack is served at the river base during the day. Tell the desk about allergies at check-in so the kitchen can point you to a suitable plate.
Eat breakfast before you leave town. The base meal is a proper pause, not a restaurant tasting menu, and you still want energy for the rappel and the roller zip.
No. Guides fit the harness, teach the brake hand and lower you beside the waterfall on a controlled rope. You follow their signals rather than choosing your own line.
If heights worry you, say so before the first zip. Sitting out one station is allowed; you wait with a guide while the rest of the group completes the drop.
Plan about six and a half hours from office check-in through the speedboat, 4x4, canopy, waterfall rappel, mule or hike links, roller zip, waterslide and the return.
Water levels and harness queues can nudge the clock. You finish back at the Nuevo Vallarta office, not at the river camp.
Waterfall rappels need a safe flow. After heavy rain, guides may skip the drop, spend longer on ziplines, or use a higher anchor that keeps you out of the strongest water.
Ask at check-in if overnight storms hit the sierra. The speedboat and canopy still run when the rappel is on hold.
Wear a swimsuit under athletic clothes, closed-toe shoes that can get wet, and a shirt that sits comfortably under a harness. Tie long hair back and skip jewellery that can catch on carabiners.
Bring reef-safe sunscreen, insect repellent, a towel and a dry bag. Some stations splash; dry clothes for the office return are worth packing.
Photo and video packages offered on the course are extra. You can decline them and keep your own camera in a dry bag between stations where staff allow it.
Keep a card or pesos if you want a download after the waterslide. Lockers, when charged locally, are also extra.
Friends who book together stay on the same speedboat and canopy group whenever capacity allows. Rappels and zips run one or two at a time, so the rest of the group watches from the platform.
Tell the guide if two of you want to ride a tandem line. They pair you when the cable and the weight limits allow it.

About the centre
Puerto Vallarta
For more than twenty years, teams on the Bahía de Banderas have been running boat days, jungle routes, and ocean activities for visitors who want more than a beach afternoon. Trips leave from the Puerto Vallarta area toward islands, hidden coves, and forest canopy lines, with bilingual guides handling safety briefings and the pace of the day.
You'll find PADI dive instructors, sailing crews, and adventure guides under one roof, which makes it easier to mix snorkelling mornings with ATV or zipline afternoons without juggling separate operators. Equipment checks, transport to launch points, and meal stops on longer tours are organised as part of the experience rather than left for you to arrange alone.
