Longer forest trails give you more time on the throttle, with a quicker line and a taste of tracks away from the busiest routes. A fire stop with sausage and a warm drink sits in the middle of the day, and the guide will still slow the group if anyone needs it, so speed is an aim rather than a dare.
After kit and a full briefing you spend about four hours on the machines, including faster stretches and some quieter tracks when conditions allow. You try the first metres in an open area, then the line heads out for the longer loop with fewer photo stops than a short tasting. The guide watches the back of the line and will ease off if someone is unhappy, because a mixed adult group still needs to finish the day well.
A traditional fire stop breaks the day for sausage and a warm drink, long enough to eat and thaw hands without getting stiff. There are no sledges on this product, so everyone on a machine needs to be ready to sit and hold on for several hours. The afternoon continues the same idea before you return to the house, drop the outer kit, and travel back to the same pickup point.
Frosted forest and frozen rivers around Rovaniemi are the backdrop. The route looks for quieter snow than the short town tastings, with a quicker rhythm when the group can take it and a more sheltered line if wind or snowfall rises.
You still start and finish from the same pickup network in town. The extra hours are spent further along the trail, not on a different continent, which is why the day feels longer without asking you to sleep out. Frozen river crossings and less-used tracks appear when the snow allows, and they are a bonus rather than a guarantee.
No previous snowmobile experience is required, though a first-timer who listens will enjoy it more than someone hoping for the gentlest possible hour. You should be happy sitting, steering and holding on for several hours in the cold, because this is more tiring than a one-hour sprint around town.
This outing is not recommended for children under 14, and there are no sledges. Everyone who comes needs to sit on a snowmobile, be at least 140 cm and strong enough to hold on. Wear warm layers under the provided kit, and bring a proper hat, because faster riding means more wind and the fire stop is when you stand still.
Faster forest lines have been a house speciality since 2005. Speed is an aim, not a dare, and the guide will ease off if the group needs it so a mixed adult set still finishes the day well rather than splitting on the trail.
The fire stop is a proper pause, not a rushed photo, with sausage and a warm drink as part of the day. Kit and pickup are handled so you can give the riding hours your attention instead of organising specialist gear from the hotel.
Pickup is offered from the hotels and meeting points listed for this safari, including Santa Claus Village, selected Ounasvaara hotels, SantaSport, Postmaster Hotel, and the town office at Pirkkakatu 2. The team confirms your collection point and time so the longer day can start on schedule.
This product has no sledges, so everyone who comes needs to be ready to sit on a snowmobile. Outer kit is fitted at the house, and you should arrive in warm layers with a hat, because the riding hours are longer and windier than a town tasting.
A first-timer who listens can still enjoy it, but the aim is a quicker line than the short tastings. If you want the gentlest possible start, the shorter town safari will suit you better.
The guide will adapt speed to the group. Say at the briefing if you are new so they can place you in the line.
This route is built for people sitting on the machines for several hours. There are no sledges for small children, and the day is not planned around a passenger sled.
Everyone who participates needs to sit on a snowmobile, be at least 140 cm and strong enough to hold on. Under 14 is not recommended.
Plan for 5 to 6 hours from pickup to drop-off. About four hours are the tour itself, including the fire stop in the middle of the riding.
Your confirmation shows the live start. Kit and transfers sit around the riding window, so keep the afternoon free.
Sausage and a warm drink are part of the stop. It is a traditional pause on the trail, not a restaurant course in town.
Tell the team about allergies beforehand. Eat a larger meal before or after if you want more than fire food.
Two guests can share one machine. A single-driving extra may be available, and many people prefer it on a faster day like this.
Ask before the date if you want your own machine. Group size affects whether that extra is free for your dates.
Listed hotels and meeting points in Rovaniemi, or the office on Pirkkakatu 2. The team confirms pickup point and time.
Be ready in warm layers. Outer kit is fitted at the house before the longer trail starts.
Thermal overalls, boots, wool socks, mittens and a helmet are provided. You wear your own clothes underneath.
Faster riding means more wind. Bring a proper hat and warm mid-layers for the fire stop when you stand still.
The guide may keep the group on more sheltered tracks if wind or snowfall rises. Quieter sections depend on conditions that morning.
If the day cannot run safely, the team will contact you to reschedule. Keep your stay number to hand.
You need to sit, steer and hold on for several hours, with a break at the fire. It is more tiring than a one-hour sprint around town.
If you rarely spend a winter day outdoors, say so. The guide can keep the line kinder without turning it into a short tasting.
A phone number you will use during the stay and any worry about speed or cold. There are no child sledges to plan, so the useful facts are about the people on the machines.
If you want single driving, ask before the date so they can check the extra for your group size.
Sobre el centro
Rovaniemi
We have been sharing winter days around Rovaniemi since 2005, first with local teams and friends and now with travellers who want a real feel of life above the Arctic Circle. The work is still rooted in the same thing: small groups, Lappish hospitality, and time outdoors in the last wilderness of Europe.
Guides here grew up with this landscape. Days are built around snowmobile trails, campfire meals from local kitchens, and the quiet of the forest after the city lights fade. We take you into everyday Arctic life, not a staged version of it, and we look after the places we visit so the next generation can enjoy the same snow, silence, and night sky.
