A sail from Cancún toward Isla Mujeres, with a snorkel at Meco reef, lunch, and time ashore on the island before the sail home. Masks and life jackets are fitted on the boat. We pick you up from your hotel and drop you back afterwards.
Hotel pickup, marina check-in, then the coast sliding past as you head north. Meco is the reef stop on the way, snorkelling from the boat, masks and life jackets fitted on deck before you use the swim step.
Lunch is served during the day, on the boat or at a beach club depending on that departure, and you have time ashore on Isla Mujeres long enough to walk. The crew tells you when to be back, then it is the sail home and the drop-off.
The day uses the water between the hotel zone and the island, and we will tell you which marina the boat is using. The snorkel is on Meco, the island time is in town, and the channel in between is busy with day boats, which is why the swim is at a marked stop with the crew in the water.
Wind picks the comfortable side, and the crew chooses the mooring before you kit up. You stay with the boat's group from check-in through the return, including the wander ashore.
Most of the day is on deck and on the island, so sun cream, a hat and water, used while the shade is still moving with the boat. A light layer is useful if the breeze picks up on the way home.
For the snorkel, be comfortable in a life jacket and able to follow the crew. They fit the masks where they can see the straps, and they tell you how long you have, which is enough to enjoy the reef without watching the ladder.
The reef stop is a planned snorkel with a briefing, not a jump off the side because the water looked nice. If lunch is at a beach club rather than on deck, you are still with the same group, and you rejoin the boat together.
Food, the island and the sail home are the same day, so you are not arranging the middle of it yourself. If swell moves the snorkel, the crew explains the new place before you get in, and they tell you the return time before you step ashore.
Hotel lobby pickup applies on routes that include transport; be ready at the stated departure time with photo ID for children if parks require it.
Self drivers receive meeting point coordinates and parking notes from the operator ahead of the activity date.
Lunch is included on this visit, so you do not need to bring a meal with you. If you have a dietary need, tell the guide at the start of the day so they can pass it on before you sit down.
Bring water for the time you spend between stops, because those gaps can be longer than they look. Extra drinks may be for sale, but do not count on a shop being open at every place you stop.
Light rain does not usually stop the visit. Lightning, a rough sea or a track that is too soft can shorten or move a section, and the guide explains that before you continue.
You will hear the change before you kit up for the next part. The group stays together while that decision is made.
Children can join when they can follow the briefing with an adult beside them. The guide will say before a section starts if it is not suitable for someone in your group.
They need to be able to listen to the safety talk and stay with the group. The same briefing applies to adults and to children.
You should be comfortable wearing a life jacket and following the guide in the water. You do not need to be a strong swimmer.
The guide stays nearby and calls the group out together. If you would like to stay closer to the entry, say so before you get in.
You can bring a phone or a camera if it is secure and you can spare a hand. Ask the crew before you attach anything to a helmet, a harness or a handlebar.
If someone is taking photos for the group that day, the crew will say so when you arrive. They will also tell you where to collect them afterwards.
If a ruin, a reserve or a beach asks for a local payment, the guide explains it before you get to the entrance. It helps to have a little cash with you in case that happens.
Tips for the crew are your own choice at the end of the day. The guide is the person to ask if you are not sure what a site is asking for.
Bring a dry bag for a phone and anything else you want to keep dry. Ask the crew when you arrive if there is somewhere to change and leave a bag.
Put your name on anything you set down. The group moves between stops, and bags are easy to mix up.
A phone in a waterproof pouch is the simplest option on a boat or in the water. Ask the crew before you strap a camera to a helmet or a machine.
Drones and flash are often not allowed near wildlife or at the ruins. Follow what the guide and the site ask on the day.
Wear light clothes you can move in, closed shoes, and a hat. This includes a boat, so sun cream and a bottle of water are worth having from the start.
Bring swimwear underneath if the visit includes a swim, and a dry layer for the van or the boat. Secure anything you do not want to lose.
You should come ready for a sail, a reef snorkel and time on the island. Most of the time is outside, so the heat is as much a part of the day as the activity itself.
Take water when you need it, and tell the guide at the start if you want a slower place in the group. That is much easier than trying to catch them once everyone is already moving.
