Escape the city for an evening of adventure, local culture and incredible desert scenery on this private experience from Hurghada. Combining off-road exploration, traditional Bedouin hospitality and an expert-led stargazing session, this tour offers a varied way to experience the Egyptian desert after the heat of the day has faded.
Collection from your accommodation in Hurghada is followed by a journey by Jeep into the desert, travelling around 26 kilometres away from the coastline and into a landscape of rolling dunes and wide open plains. Along the route there are opportunities to stop for photographs while watching the scenery change from the busy resort to peaceful desert surroundings. As you travel further into the desert, your guide will introduce the area before arriving at the activity base.
An ATV quad bike ride is one of the first adventures of the evening, giving you the chance to drive across sandy trails before continuing by Jeep to a traditional Bedouin village. Here you'll enjoy a gentle camel ride and be welcomed with a refreshing drink and herbal Bedouin tea while learning about local traditions and everyday life in the desert. The slower pace of this part of the experience offers a nice contrast to the earlier off-road adventure.
As daylight begins to fade, you'll head to a viewpoint to watch the sunset spread across the desert, creating fantastic opportunities for photographs. Afterwards, a freshly prepared Bedouin BBQ buffet dinner is served by candlelight in a relaxed outdoor setting, allowing you to enjoy local flavours beneath the evening sky before darkness fully arrives.
The final part of the tour focuses on the night sky. Accompanied by an experienced astronomy guide, you'll learn about stars, planets and galaxies before observing them through powerful telescopes. Depending on visibility, you may see planets, star clusters, nebulae and distant galaxies while hearing both ancient and modern stories about astronomy. Once the session comes to an end, you'll return by Jeep before being driven back to your hotel.
Located just outside Hurghada, the surrounding desert provides a completely different setting to the Red Sea coastline. Endless sandy landscapes, rocky hills and wide open spaces create ideal conditions for off-road adventures while offering a peaceful atmosphere once the sun begins to set.
With very little light pollution, this part of the Egyptian desert is also an excellent place for stargazing. The clear evening skies help create impressive viewing conditions, while the traditional Bedouin camp adds a cultural element to the overall experience.
No previous experience is required to take part, making this activity suitable for first-time visitors as well as those who have enjoyed desert safaris before. Children are welcome from the age of one, although some activities may have additional guidance from the local team for safety reasons.
Comfortable clothing, closed shoes for the quad bike ride and a light layer for the evening are recommended. Bringing sunglasses, a camera and a fully charged phone is also a good idea so you can make the most of the photo opportunities throughout the trip.
Instead of focusing on just one activity, this experience brings together several of Hurghada's most popular desert adventures into a single well-planned evening. From driving across the dunes and meeting Bedouin hosts to enjoying dinner beneath the stars, each part of the itinerary offers something different without feeling rushed.
Private transport, experienced local guides and included hotel transfers allow you to relax and enjoy the experience, while the combination of adventure, culture and astronomy creates an evening that appeals to couples, families and groups alike.
Yes, the experience accepts participants from one year old, making it suitable for families travelling with younger children. The journey includes several different activities, but children remain with their accompanying adults throughout the experience, and the guides help ensure each part is carried out safely.
Parents should be aware that while the overall tour is family-friendly, activities such as quad biking are operated under local safety rules. Younger children may ride as passengers or observe certain activities depending on their age and the guide's instructions on the day.
Most adult participants will have the opportunity to ride an ATV quad bike after receiving a safety briefing and instructions from the guides. The route is designed to allow you to experience the desert terrain while remaining suitable for visitors with little or no previous riding experience.
Before setting off, staff explain how to control the vehicle, demonstrate safe riding techniques and answer any questions. The guides remain nearby throughout the activity to provide assistance whenever needed.
The visit is much more than simply stopping for photographs. You'll have time to walk around the camp, enjoy a camel ride, sample traditional herbal tea and experience a little of Bedouin hospitality while learning about local customs and everyday desert life.
The relaxed pace allows you to take photographs, speak with your guide and enjoy a quieter part of the evening before continuing with dinner and stargazing.
Once darkness falls, the guide introduces you to the night sky before inviting you to observe celestial objects through large telescopes. Depending on the weather and seasonal conditions, you may be able to see planets, galaxies, nebulae and star clusters that are difficult to observe from towns and cities.
Alongside the telescope viewing, you'll also hear interesting explanations about astronomy, including how ancient civilisations used the stars for navigation and how modern astronomers continue to study the universe today.
Yes. A traditional Bedouin-style BBQ buffet dinner is included and served in the desert, creating a relaxed atmosphere after the day's activities have finished. Dining by candlelight adds to the experience while allowing you to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The meal is served before the stargazing session, giving you plenty of time to relax, chat with your group and enjoy the evening before moving on to the astronomy experience.
Yes, hotel pickup and drop-off within Hurghada are included, making the experience straightforward from beginning to end. You won't need to arrange your own transport or find the desert meeting point independently.
After the stargazing session finishes, the Jeep returns to the transfer point before your driver takes you back to your accommodation, allowing you to simply relax after an enjoyable evening.
Lightweight, comfortable clothing is ideal for the warmer part of the evening, while closed footwear is recommended for the quad bike ride to provide better comfort and protection. Sunglasses are useful before sunset, particularly during the Jeep and quad bike sections.
Although daytime temperatures can remain high, the desert often becomes cooler after dark, so bringing a light jumper or jacket is worthwhile, especially during the stargazing session when you'll spend time standing outside.
