This full-day bike tour is designed to show the complete Versailles estate in a single visit, linking the palace, gardens, and outer royal domains in a way that simply isn’t practical on foot. Riding allows you to move efficiently between major sites while still having time to explore key areas on foot.
The day combines guided cycling, walking visits, and a relaxed picnic break, giving a clear sense of how the palace, formal gardens, and private retreats fit together within the wider royal landscape.
After bike fitting and a short briefing, the group sets off into the expansive parklands surrounding the palace. Cycling allows you to cover long distances comfortably, moving between the Grand Canal, gardens, and outer estates while stopping regularly for explanations and photos.
You’ll visit the Grand and Petit Trianons and Marie-Antoinette’s Hamlet, areas that are often missed or rushed on shorter visits. Midway through the day, there is time to stop at the local open-air market to buy picnic supplies, followed by a relaxed lunch beside the Grand Canal, away from the busiest palace areas.
The afternoon includes time off the bike to walk through the Château and the Hall of Mirrors, before a final ride through the gardens to tie together the scale and layout of the estate.
The meeting point is a short walk from Versailles Château Rive Gauche train station, making it straightforward to reach from Paris. Starting close to the station keeps road riding to a minimum and allows quick access to the estate.
The central finish location makes onward travel easy at the end of the day.
All participants must be able to ride a bike confidently for extended periods. Children may join if they are experienced riders and appropriate equipment is requested in advance.
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Tours operate in all weather conditions, so suitable clothing is recommended. Please arrive 15 minutes before departure for check-in.
