A pair of driving days takes you well beyond the city loops, with a night at a wilderness lodge. The first day covers skills, a reindeer farm and a campfire lunch. The second is deep snow and a local fell before you ride back to town, so the trip is built around time on the machines rather than a hotel list.
Morning one leaves Rovaniemi after pickup, with a full snowmobile lesson and safety briefing before you settle into the trail. There is enough open snow to practise the controls, then the outbound route includes a working reindeer farm and a campfire lunch. The afternoon riding turns toward the lodge, still well away from the main roads, and dinner and sauna wait once you are off the machines.
Day two starts after breakfast with deeper snow and free-riding practice, mixing tracks and powder on country known for heavy winter cover. One of the lines takes in a local fell, and the guide changes surface so the group can work on drifting without spending the whole day on the same snow. Lunch is by the fire or indoors depending on the line, then you return to Rovaniemi the same afternoon and drop the kit before the hotel drop-off.
The lodge sits well off the main roads, in country known for heavy winter snow around Kierinki. Nights are quiet enough to watch the sky if the aurora shows, far from the glow of town, and rooms are simple and warm rather than hotel-formal.
You are not based in the city. The hours on the machine are the point of the trip, and the lodge is a place to eat, sauna and sleep between the two driving days. Town hotels before you leave and after you return are separate from these two days, so pack a small overnight bag and leave extra luggage in Rovaniemi if you can.
No previous snowmobile licence is required, because day one starts with a thorough lesson and plenty of snow to practise on. You should still want a proper driving trip rather than a brief town taster, and you need to be fit enough to ride for long stretches over two days.
The minimum age is 15, because the days are long on the machines and the snow can be deep. Share ages beforehand so the team can plan who drives and who rides as passenger. Wear warm layers under the two-piece suit they provide, and bring casual winter clothes for the lodge evening and the farm stop.
Lodge trips grew out of safari work that began in 2005, built around driving rather than ticking a hotel list. Lesson time on day one means you can actually enjoy the deeper snow on day two, instead of spending the second morning still learning the throttle.
Meals sit where you need them: lunch on the trail, dinner and sauna at the lodge, and breakfast before you ride again. The reindeer stop is a real farm visit on the outbound day, not a separate ticket you have to organise, and it sits on the driving route rather than asking for an extra transfer.
Pickup is from your Rovaniemi hotel or a listed meeting point on the first morning. The team confirms the collection time, and you leave the city behind once you are on the machines. Be ready as a group, with an overnight bag packed, so the lesson and the first trail can start on time.
Pack a small overnight bag for the lodge and leave extra luggage at your town hotel if you can. Snowmobile outer kit is fitted before the first trail. On day two you return to the same pickup area in the afternoon, so keep a phone to hand until you are back at the hotel.
This is a two-day outing with one night at the wilderness lodge. You leave Rovaniemi on the first morning and return on the afternoon of the second day.
Driving time is the core of both days, with meals and the sauna built around the machines rather than sitting in town.
Night one is at a wilderness lodge away from the main roads. Dinner and a sauna are part of that evening. Rooms are simple and warm, suited to an early start the next morning.
Rovaniemi hotel nights before you leave and after you return are not included. Pack a small overnight bag and leave extra luggage at your town hotel if you can.
Trail lunches are included on both days, usually by a campfire or indoors if the route needs it. Dinner is at the lodge on night one, and breakfast is there before you ride on day two.
Tell the team about allergies beforehand. Extra drinks or shop items at the lodge or farm are not included.
Guests need to be at least 15. The days are long on the machines and the snow can be deep, so this is not a short family taster.
Share ages beforehand so the team can plan who drives and who rides as passenger. Warm layers matter as much as age.
Day one starts with a thorough lesson and safety briefing, with plenty of snow to practise on before the longer trail. You do not need a licence from home.
You should still want a proper driving trip. If you have never sat on a machine and only want a short first go, a day safari in town will suit you better.
Yes. One of the outbound stops is a local reindeer farm, where you meet the animals and hear a little about herding in this part of Lapland.
It is part of the driving day, not a separate ticket. Time there is enough for photos, then you continue toward the lodge.
A professional two-piece snowmobile suit, boots, wool socks, mittens and a helmet are provided for both driving days. You wear that kit on the trail and change at the lodge in the evening.
Bring your own base layers and a warm hat. Casual winter clothes are enough for the lodge and the farm stop.
Pickup is from your Rovaniemi hotel or a listed meeting point on the first morning. The team confirms the time.
Be ready with an overnight bag and your own layers. Outer kit is fitted before the first stretch of trail.
Deep snow is the point of the trip, so ordinary snowfall is not a problem. Strong wind or a sudden thaw can change the fell line or the lunch stop.
If the two days cannot run safely, the team will contact you to reschedule. Keep your stay number to hand.
A phone number you will use in Rovaniemi, any medical notes, and allergy details for lodge meals. If anyone in the group is new to snowmobiles, say so before the first morning.
If you want a race-edition machine, ask beforehand so they can check what is free for your dates.
Sobre el centro
Rovaniemi
We have been sharing winter days around Rovaniemi since 2005, first with local teams and friends and now with travellers who want a real feel of life above the Arctic Circle. The work is still rooted in the same thing: small groups, Lappish hospitality, and time outdoors in the last wilderness of Europe.
Guides here grew up with this landscape. Days are built around snowmobile trails, campfire meals from local kitchens, and the quiet of the forest after the city lights fade. We take you into everyday Arctic life, not a staged version of it, and we look after the places we visit so the next generation can enjoy the same snow, silence, and night sky.
