Gastrobiking is a full-day outing for your group in the Sierra Morena, where cycling and food share equal billing. You begin with a countryside breakfast of local produce, ride the greenway beside the Hueznar river up toward Cerro del Hierro, and sit down to a rustic lunch once the pedals stop.
After breakfast with KM0 ingredients from the area, you ride the Vía Verde de la Sierra Norte along the old mining railway line. Much of the climb runs through riverside woodland beside the Hueznar before you reach the karst viewpoints at Cerro del Hierro, where you pause before turning back toward Cazalla.
The return ride brings you to a rustic lunch in open countryside near Campo de Agustina, so the day is framed by two proper meals rather than a quick snack on the move. If you travel without a bike, you can hire one when you confirm the date, subject to availability, and helmets are required for everyone.
Your guide sets a social pace with planned stops for photos and water on the steeper greenway sections. We keep the day private for your party only, so timings flex around breakfast, riding, and lunch rather than a fixed public departure clock.
The route links Cazalla de la Sierra with the Cerro del Hierro natural monument inside the Sierra Morena de Sevilla, using the famous greenway and the Hueznar valley as its backbone. You see river forest, open hillside, and the karst formations that make the Cerro one of the best-known viewpoints in the Sierra Norte.
We meet at C/ La Plazuela, 3 in Cazalla to brief the group and handle any bike handover before you transfer to the start of the ride. That address is your reference point for arrival on the day.
You should be happy to cycle for several hours on gravel greenway and short climbs between breakfast and lunch, with breaks when the group needs them. Mention hire bikes and rider heights when you enquire so the right frames can be set aside before you arrive.
Children may join when an adult stays with them for the full ride and can manage the distance. Helmets are required whether you hire or bring your own bike.
Breakfast and lunch are woven into the route, showcasing local KM0 food at the table and the Cerro del Hierro climb in between. The date is reserved for your group alone, so the pace can follow your party rather than a mixed public departure.
Hire bikes are available when you ask in advance, which makes the day workable for guests who fly in without their own kit. We keep the same maintenance standards on hire frames as on our longer tours.
The day begins with a countryside breakfast built from KM0 produce so nobody climbs the greenway on an empty stomach. After riding toward Cerro del Hierro with photo stops and guide commentary, the group returns for a rustic lunch near Campo de Agustina where the table is part of the experience.
Menus follow what is fresh that week, and we can plan vegetarian or allergy-friendly plates when you tell us your needs through Adventuro Chat before the date is confirmed.
You climb the Sierra Norte greenway beside the Hueznar river, mostly on the old mining railway bed through gallery forest, before reaching the karst viewpoints at Cerro del Hierro. The return leg follows the same corridor at a social pace with planned pause points on steeper sections.
Distances flex with group fitness because this is a private date for your party, not a fixed public timetable.
Bring your own bike or ask us to reserve a hire frame and helmet when you confirm the date, subject to availability for your headcount. Share rider heights in advance so the right sizes are waiting at the handover.
If you arrive on your own machine, we still run a quick safety check and talk tyres for the mixed surfaces on the day.
This is a private group experience, so we agree a calendar day that fits your party rather than joining strangers on a set departure. Four riders is the minimum for the standard gastrobiking day; larger coach groups can be handled with extra support when arranged ahead of time.
Book at least one week before your preferred date so we can confirm guides, bikes, and catering together through Adventuro Chat.
Plan for a full daylight arc: breakfast, the climb to Cerro del Hierro, the descent, and a seated lunch after the ride. Riding hours depend on pace, but the meals anchor the timetable so the day never feels rushed.
Summer dates usually start early to use cooler air on the greenway before the sun sits overhead.
Children may ride when an adult in the group stays with them for the full distance and we can supply a smaller frame if stock allows. Mixed-ability families should say so upfront so we can soften the climb or extend rest stops.
Helmets are mandatory for every rider, and we adjust child seats or smaller frames at handover so fit and braking feel secure before you leave.
We normally brief at C/ La Plazuela, 3 in Cazalla de la Sierra, then move to the breakfast and greenway start unless we confirm another point for coaches. Allow time for bike fitting before the first mouthful of breakfast.
For very large parties we sometimes use the bullring square in Cazalla when that layout works better for coaches; we will confirm the exact pin when your date is set.
Wet forest sections after storms can be slick, so we may delay, shorten the climb, or choose a lower loop if safety is in doubt. Light rain is often manageable with waterproofs and slower cornering.
The guide decides on the morning with the group rather than forcing the full Cerro ascent in unsafe conditions.
The greenway climb and return suit riders with moderate fitness who are happy on gravel for several hours between meals. Assist e-bikes are not the default here, though ask when you enquire if one is available for your date.
If you rarely ride, tell us before you book so we can advise honestly on pacing and whether a gentler loop would suit your group better.
Transport to the meeting point, personal cycling kit, travel insurance, and extra drinks outside the staged meals are yours to arrange unless we quote a pickup separately. Advanced tools beyond a basic safety check are not part of the standard day.
Locks and spare parts you rely on for your own bike should travel with you, because roadside support beyond the guide's basic kit is limited on the greenway.
