Enjoy an immersive 8-hour private journey across Vatnajökull Glacier, including a scenic glacier hike, a professional photoshoot at Diamond Beach, and a thrilling Zodiac boat ride among icebergs in Glacier Lagoon. Small groups receive personalised guidance and photography, ensuring each moment is captured while exploring Iceland’s dramatic landscapes. The day is structured to combine adventure, safety, and memorable photo opportunities.
Start the day at Glacier Lagoon parking lot and board a 4×4 vehicle for a rugged ride to the glacier, crossing F-Roads and ancient glacial plains while your guide explains the area’s geology and history. On arrival, you’ll be fitted with crampons, harness, helmet, ice axe, and boots if needed, then embark on a 30-minute hike across mostly flat, rocky terrain to reach the glacier edge.
Once on the ice, you’ll walk with crampons across Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, exploring crystal-blue formations, moulins, and deep ice features. Following the glacier hike, enjoy a one-hour photoshoot at Diamond Beach and Glacier Lagoon, capturing landscapes and portraits. The experience concludes with a 90-minute Zodiac boat tour through the lagoon to see icebergs and possibly seals before returning to the parking lot.
Vatnajökull Glacier sits within Vatnajökull National Park in South Iceland, with access via Glacier Lagoon. The glacier and lagoon areas provide an otherworldly setting for walking, photography, and boating among floating icebergs. The surrounding coastline features Diamond Beach, where ice chunks glisten on the black sand, offering striking photo opportunities.
The parking lot is roughly five hours from Reykjavík, so nearby accommodation is recommended to ensure a timely start. The area is rich in glacial history and natural features, providing both dramatic landscapes and a safe environment for guided exploration.
Participants should be in moderate physical condition and able to walk over uneven, rocky terrain. No prior glacier experience is necessary, though following guide instructions and wearing warm, waterproof clothing is essential. Hiking boots with ankle support are required, with rentals available if needed.
Guides provide all necessary equipment and instruction, ensuring safety during glacier walks, photography stops, and Zodiac rides. The private format allows participants to set a comfortable pace while fully enjoying the day’s activities.

The tour involves approximately two hours of walking and glacier hiking. Terrain is mostly flat with some rocky sections and moderate incline on the glacier. While moderately challenging, guides adjust the pace according to participants’ fitness levels. Zodiac tours require no additional effort, offering a relaxing contrast to the glacier hike.
Participants should be prepared for variable weather and temperatures. Proper layered clothing, boots, and gloves are recommended. Guides provide all technical equipment and ensure participants are comfortable during the activity.
A professional photographer captures each participant throughout the glacier hike and photoshoot stops. Ten edited images per person are provided via a downloadable drive, covering action shots, landscapes, and portraits. Zodiac boat photos are not included in this package.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras or phones for additional images. Guides offer tips for composition and lighting, helping you make the most of Iceland’s dramatic scenery. The private format provides more time for quality photography compared with public tours.
The meeting point is Glacier Lagoon parking lot in Vatnajökull National Park, about five hours’ drive from Reykjavík. Accommodation nearby is recommended for convenience and timely arrival. Transport to and from the meeting point is not included but can be arranged separately.
