After dark you leave Levi on a private snowmobile and head into forest away from the village lights. About three hours includes a stop for warm drinks and snacks with the engines off. Northern lights might appear if conditions are right, though they are not guaranteed, and the ride still happens if the sky stays quiet.
Once it is properly dark, collection is from your accommodation, then helmets and winter kit go on beside the machines. Safety briefing happens before anyone moves, licensed drivers take the controls, and passengers need to be at least 140 cm to sit behind. Younger children can travel in the guide's sled when it is available, so tell us heights and who is driving when you book.
Snowy track follows after the lit streets, then you stop where you can look at the sky and again for hot drinks and snacks with the engines off. Cloud or a quiet night can mean no aurora, and you still get the ride and the warm stop either way. We bring you back to the Levi address where the evening began.
Winter evenings around Levi and Sirkka are properly dark, which is why this ride leaves after dusk. Tracks leave the lit village for snowy forest, so the first kilometres take you away from streetlamps and hotel glow. Stops sit where the sky has more room, rather than at a roadside viewpoint with lights nearby.
Dark winter nights in Finnish Lapland are what make this kind of ride possible around Levi and Sirkka. Forest around the resort is close enough that a three-hour evening still starts and finishes at your stay. Snowy track in the countryside is the ground, not a lit circuit beside the village.
Licensed drivers need a physical card at the briefing, and no earlier snowmobile time is required on this night ride. Passengers need 140 cm to sit on a machine, and children need to be at least four. Tell us who is driving, who is riding as a passenger, and whether anyone needs the guide's sled.
Evenings feel colder because you sit still to look up, so wear a wool or synthetic base layer under the suit we provide. Cotton next to the skin cools quickly when you stop. Charge your phone before collection if you hope to take pictures during the pauses, and keep a working mobile so we can reach you in the dark.
Private evenings mean your guide can hold a stop when the sky is worth watching instead of keeping a long line of machines moving. Winter clothing, helmets, drinks and snacks are included, which means you pack a warm base layer rather than a full snowmobile wardrobe, and the same guide stays with you until you are home.
Collection from your accommodation is part of the evening, even when it is already dark, so you are not walking to a depot after dinner. Aurora or not, the ride is still the outing if the lights do not appear. Pace stays with the least confident driver, which is why this works as a first snowmobile evening as well as a private night out.
We collect you from your Levi stay once it is dark enough to leave the village glow behind. Licences, heights, helmets, and winter kit are sorted before a snowmobile moves, including who sits pillion and who rides in the guide's sled.
Your guide runs through controls and how to follow on the track so even first-time drivers know what to expect before the tail light ahead becomes your main reference.
You follow your guide onto snowy tracks away from town. Stops land where the sky opens up, and pace stays with the least confident rider rather than the fastest machine.
Engines switch off when it is time to look up, and your guide chooses pauses that fit the weather that hour rather than a fixed timetable on a map.
Warm drinks and snacks arrive with engines off in a sheltered spot. After you have had time to eat, drink, and scan the sky, we ride back to the same accommodation whether aurora appeared or cloud stayed put.
Drop-off uses the address we collected you from, so you step straight back indoors without a second transfer in the cold.
Plan on about three hours from collection at your accommodation to drop-off at the same address. That includes kitting up, the ride away from village lights, sky stops, and the warm drink and snack break with engines off.
Licensed drivers handle the machines. Passengers need 140 cm to ride pillion. Children under four are generally not on the ride, though a smaller child can use the guide's sled when it is available that night.
Driving requires a valid physical licence, which we check in Levi before anyone follows a tail light onto the track. Passengers do not need a licence but must meet the 140 cm height rule to sit on a snowmobile rather than in the sled.
Send children's heights when you book so we plan seats before suits go on. A child who looks tall enough in a hotel lobby can still be short of the seat once the overalls are zipped.
Your evening starts at your Levi accommodation, which matters when it is already dark and you do not want a walk to a depot. We use the address and mobile number on your booking to time collection and to reach you if plans shift.
There is no public square to stand in. Keep your phone on so we can call if the previous group is late off the machines or if weather suggests a small change to the route.
We ride toward darker sky, which gives you a real chance when solar activity and cloud cooperate. Aurora is never guaranteed. A cloudy or quiet night is still a full evening on snowmobiles with warm drinks and snacks.
Book for the experience of riding under winter stars as well as the hope of lights. We will not cancel a sound evening ride only because the forecast is uncertain, and we cannot promise a refund if the sky stays quiet after you have ridden.
We issue overalls, boots, gloves, helmet, and a balaclava when the cold calls for it. What we cannot fix is a thin cotton shirt underneath. Evenings on a snowmobile feel colder because you sit still between stops rather than riding continuously.
Bring a wool or synthetic base layer and trust the outer kit we provide. Charge your phone before collection if you hope to photograph the sky during pauses.
Yes. From one guest upward, the guide and machines are yours alone, so a stop to watch the sky is not rushed by another group revving behind you.
Tell us how many will drive, how many will ride pillion, and whether anyone needs the guide's sled. That detail decides whether we bring two snowmobiles, a sled hookup, or both before we leave the yard.
No earlier snowmobile time is required for this night ride. The briefing covers speed, steering, and how to follow the guide before you leave Levi's lights behind.
This tour is built for a focused evening that still gets you back to your accommodation at a sensible hour. Pace stays with the least confident driver once you are on the dark track.
Cancel at least 72 hours before your scheduled evening and your payment is refunded in full. Later than that, or a no-show when we arrive for collection in the dark, and the machines held for you are non-refundable.
Keep the phone on your booking active. If track conditions or wind change the plan, the call goes to that number so you hear directly rather than waiting on hotel reception.
Professional photos of your group on the machines are available as a separate extra. Taking sharp night pictures while you also watch the sky is harder than it looks, which is why some families add a photographer.
At the drink stop, once the engine is off and your guide says it is safe, a phone is fine. Do not film from the seat while the track is moving.
We need names, ages, heights, your Levi address, a mobile number, and confirmation that every driver will bring a physical licence. Heights matter on this ride because 140 cm is the passenger rule.
Mention anyone who would rather use the guide's sled than a pillion seat, and any limit that affects balance or grip in the cold. That note helps us brief the evening before we hand over helmets.
