Follow the Miño on an electric bike through a landscape where Spain and Portugal face each other across the water. You start in Tui and loop along riverside paths towards Salvaterra, Monção, and Valença before returning to Galicia, with the motor making the distance feel easy.
After a briefing and bike fitting near the river, you roll out on shared paths with your guide setting a pace the whole group can hold. The route mixes open water views, wooded sections, and small towns on both sides of the border, with photo stops where the valley opens out.
You cross into Portugal on the loop, so bring a passport or valid ID for the sections where border checks can occur. The ride returns to the same meeting area in Tui after about four hours on the bikes.
Tui is one of the classic gateway towns on the Miño, with a cathedral above the old streets and a waterfront that looks straight across to Portugal. Your meeting point is on Rúa Olímpicos Tudenses, close to the riverside paths that carry most of the ride.
Salvaterra, Monção, and Valença sit along the loop on the Portuguese bank, each with its own river character from quiet paths to small squares where you can pause for a coffee if you choose. Shared paths, gentle breeze, and other walkers are part of the outing, so attention at crossings still matters even with motor assistance.
Every rider should be comfortable handling a bicycle on shared paths and light traffic, including braking when the surface is damp. The motor helps on gentle rises, but you still steer and balance a bike that weighs around twenty kilograms.
Riders need to be at least 1.55 metres tall for the frames we use. Carry passport or ID for the cross-border sections. We recommend age twelve and above for this riverside loop.
Groups stay at fifteen riders or fewer, which keeps the convoy manageable on riverside paths and leaves room for questions at each stop. Helmets and locks are included, and the briefing is a proper fitting rather than a rushed send-off.
This loop packs two countries into one relaxed morning on the bike. You get river scenery, border-town character, and a route that suits riders who want culture and nature without a hard climb session.
Plan for about four hours from the fitting in Tui to the return along the same riverside meeting area. That includes the loop along the Miño through Spanish and Portuguese towns, photo stops, and time on the shared river paths.
Start times are shown on the booking calendar. Arrive a few minutes early so helmets and saddle height are set before you join the route. The pace stays conversational because you share the paths with walkers and other cyclists.
This is a guided shared outing with up to fifteen riders in the group, including your own party. Solo travellers and pairs are welcome, and the guide keeps the line together at crossings and border sections.
A private version may appear separately on the calendar when it is available for your dates. Group and private products are priced differently when both are listed.
You meet on Rúa Olímpicos Tudenses in Tui, postcode 36700. The historic centre and cathedral are a short walk away, and there is parking and public transport access in the town.
Transport to the meeting point is not included in the price. Closed-toe shoes from the moment you arrive save time at the briefing. Allow a little extra time if you are arriving from Portugal or travelling in peak summer.
We recommend riders aged twelve and above who are at least 1.55 metres tall. The electric bikes weigh around twenty kilograms, so everyone needs enough strength to steady the bike at stops and on gentle slopes.
Anyone under eighteen needs an adult on the same booking. The riverside paths suit riders who are already comfortable on a bicycle rather than someone on their very first ride.
The price covers a guided ride of about four hours, an e-bike for each rider, a helmet, and a lock. Fitting and a short safety briefing happen before you leave the meeting area.
Meals, drinks, and personal travel insurance are extra. Phone mounts and baby carriers are available for a small extra charge on the day. Any café stops along the river are at your own cost.
Yes. The circular route crosses between Spain and Portugal along the Miño, so carry a passport or valid ID that you can show if asked at a border point. The guide reminds the group before you cross.
EU citizens usually pass through smoothly on the riverside paths, but the requirement still applies. Without ID you may not be able to complete the full loop.
The loop follows riverside paths from Tui towards Salvaterra, Monção, and Valença on the Portuguese side, then back into Galicia. You see water, woodland, and small towns rather than busy motorway traffic.
The electric motor helps on any gentle rises so you can enjoy the border scenery without rushing. The guide chooses a steady pace suited to the group and the path surface on the day.
Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes with a firm sole are the basics. Skip flip-flops. A light waterproof helps when river mist or a shower passes through the valley.
Bring water, sunscreen, and a small bag that stays secure on your back. Carry your passport or ID in a zipped pocket you can reach quickly at border sections.
Light rain is common in Galicia and the ride usually still goes ahead on damp riverside paths. Keep speeds modest, follow the guide's line, and wear a waterproof so you stay comfortable along the water.
Strong wind, storms, or flooding that makes the shared paths unsafe can mean the outing is rescheduled. Your guide will agree another date with you when that happens.
You do not need racing fitness or road cycling experience. The electric motor carries you along the flat riverside sections, and the guide keeps a relaxed pace that matches the group.
You should already feel steady steering and braking on a bike. Shared paths, gentle breeze, and other walkers are part of the outing, so calm attention at crossings matters more than leg power.
