Join us on a paragliding journey to this wonderful paragliding playground
Join us for a mountain flying trip to the Massif Central, flying over extinct volcanoes and 1800m mountains in central France. If the weather forecast is bad in the Massif Central, we may change the destination to another mountain range, with a final decision on the Thursday before departure.
The price includes: accommodation, home cooked food, up to one XC retrieve at the end of each day. The price does not include travel, but for no extra charge we can collect you from Clermont Ferrand train station or airport, and we can also transport your wing from the UK. To travel with us by car costs an extra £175 return.
With this BHPA-registered Air Experience School, you will be in the hands of experienced professionals like our Chief Instructor, Dave, and the very experienced Michel. While we aim to provide a platform for community learning and safety, it is important to note that our qualifications are for tandem flying rather than teaching newbie solo pilots. You must be a qualified independent pilot to join this trip; this is not a beginner learn to paraglide course.
Your Journey to the Massif Central
Travel to and from the Massif Central is not included. However, we offer several travel options to make your journey as smooth as possible:
- We can take your wing by car for free.
- You can travel with us by car from the UK for £175 return.
- If you prefer public transport, we recommend train travel from London to Paris and then on to Clermont Ferrand, from where we can collect you.
- Flights are available from London to Clermont Ferrand, but you will need to change. Otherwise, take a direct flight to Lyon and then train to Clermont Ferrand.
We're happy to assist with booking travel if you wish.
Flight Locations
We'll be stationed near the flying site of Puy de Dome, with its mountain railway ready to take you back to launch with ease. Other sites include Puy de L'Angle, Puy de la Tache, Puy Gros, and the magnificent Puy de Sancy. Some launches are grassy and very approachable, others are classic mountain launches - a bit steeper and rocky.
What to Bring
Remember to bring along the following:
- Radio
- Your own paragliding equipment in good condition, including wing, harness, and reserve
- Tree landing kit: loop of climbing webbing, dental floss for pulling up a line, and a whistle
- Drinking bag for hydration
- In-flight urination equipment reccomended
What If the Weather Is Unfavorable?
If the weather is completely unflyable, we have several other activities planned, including visiting mountain top roman ruins, and wild hot springs in a forest.
How to Book
To secure your spot, you need to put in a booking request using the booking form above.
The trip organiser will be notified of your booking request and you will be able to discuss the trip with them, ask any questions, and they will ask for some basic details including your paragliding qualification level, and your emergency contacts. Once they have confirmed your spot, you will then be taken to payment to confirm the trip.
Risks
Paragliding involves inherent risks, and your safety is our priority. While we'll discuss options for each day's flying and decide as a group which site to visit, you're ultimately responsible for your own decisions. No one is obliged to fly, and it's essential that each pilot feels confident about the forecast and the flying site before taking off.
