Cenote snorkelling, a guided rappel and zip lines, with lunch at the park so you are not running on empty. Everything is on one site once you arrive, and there is a briefing before each part. We pick you up from your hotel and bring you back afterwards.
Hotel pickup takes you inland to the park, and the first briefing is simply how the group will move between the cenote, the rappel and the lines. You snorkel the freshwater pool with the guide nearby, masks fitted before anyone gets in, which is a gentle way to start.
The rappel is a guided descent, rope checked and the landing explained before you lean back. Zip lines follow once the harness is on and the braking has been shown, then lunch at the park, and the transfer home when you are fed.
The park is inland from Playa del Carmen, in the forest, with the cenote, the rappel and the zip platforms all on the same grounds. After the drive in, the rest of the day is a circuit in one place, which is much nicer than chasing three different sites.
Cenote water is fresh and still, and the lines run above the trees around it, so you can see where you have just been swimming. The crew tells you which station is next and where the shade is between turns.
You will need to be at least 6 years old. Most of the day is outdoors in the heat, so sun protection and a bottle of water are worth sipping and reapplying between the pool and the platforms.
For the cenote, be comfortable in a life jacket and able to follow the guide in the water. On the rappel and the zip lines you wear the harness they fit, and you can ask about the rope or the brake at the station, with the kit in your hands.
Mask, harness and rappel kit each get their own check, and nobody starts until that check is done in front of them. It sounds fussy, and it is the reason the descents and the lines feel calm enough to enjoy.
Staff stay with the group for the whole circuit, lunch included, so you are not sent off to find the next platform with wet shoes and a vague wave. If one station is closed they take it out of the order and tell you before you walk over.
Hotel lobby pickup applies on routes that include transport; be ready at the stated departure time with photo ID for children if parks require it.
Self drivers receive meeting point coordinates and parking notes from the operator ahead of the activity date.
Lunch is included on this visit, so you do not need to bring a meal with you. If you have a dietary need, tell the guide at the start of the day so they can pass it on before you sit down.
Bring water for the time you spend between stops, because those gaps can be longer than they look. Extra drinks may be for sale, but do not count on a shop being open at every place you stop.
Light rain does not usually stop the visit. Lightning, a rough sea or a track that is too soft can shorten or move a section, and the guide explains that before you continue.
You will hear the change before you kit up for the next part. The group stays together while that decision is made.
Anyone taking part needs to be at least 6 years old, and children need an adult with them. The guide will say before a section starts if it is not suitable for someone in your group.
They need to be able to listen to the safety talk and stay with the group. The same briefing applies to adults and to children.
You should be comfortable wearing a life jacket and following the guide in the water. You do not need to be a strong swimmer.
The guide stays nearby and calls the group out together. If you would like to stay closer to the entry, say so before you get in.
You can bring a phone or a camera if it is secure and you can spare a hand. Ask the crew before you attach anything to a helmet, a harness or a handlebar.
If someone is taking photos for the group that day, the crew will say so when you arrive. They will also tell you where to collect them afterwards.
If a ruin, a reserve or a beach asks for a local payment, the guide explains it before you get to the entrance. It helps to have a little cash with you in case that happens.
Tips for the crew are your own choice at the end of the day. The guide is the person to ask if you are not sure what a site is asking for.
Bring a dry bag for a phone and anything else you want to keep dry. Ask the crew when you arrive if there is somewhere to change and leave a bag.
Put your name on anything you set down. The group moves between stops, and bags are easy to mix up.
A phone in a waterproof pouch is the simplest option on a boat or in the water. Ask the crew before you strap a camera to a helmet or a machine.
Drones and flash are often not allowed near wildlife or at the ruins. Follow what the guide and the site ask on the day.
Wear light clothes you can move in, closed shoes, and a hat. This includes a harness and a cenote, so sun cream and a bottle of water are worth having from the start.
Bring swimwear underneath if the visit includes a swim, and a dry layer for the van or the boat. Secure anything you do not want to lose.
You should come ready for a cenote snorkel, a rappel and zip lines. Most of the time is outside, so the heat is as much a part of the day as the activity itself.
Take water when you need it, and tell the guide at the start if you want a slower place in the group. That is much easier than trying to catch them once everyone is already moving.
