This guided electric bike tour is an efficient way to see the key coastal highlights of Los Angeles in a single morning. Starting close to the beach in Santa Monica, pedal-assist eBikes make it easier to cover distance while keeping the ride steady and accessible.
Riding with a local guide means you’ll combine the main sights with context, route planning and well-timed stops, rather than navigating the busy beachfront independently.
After meeting near the beachfront, you’ll be fitted to your eBike and briefed on how the pedal-assist system works, including safe riding on shared paths. The group sets off at a controlled pace, designed to work for a mixed group of electric and non-electric bikes. Assistance levels are adjusted as needed to keep the ride smooth and consistent.
The route follows the coastal cycle path past Santa Monica Pier before continuing south towards Venice Beach. Along the way, the guide provides commentary on local history, culture and landmarks, with regular pauses for photos and short breaks. Highlights include a detour through the Venice Canals, where pedestrian paths and bridges give a quieter contrast to the beachfront.
The second half of the tour continues through Marina del Rey, with stops at well-known spots such as Muscle Beach and the Venice Art Walls. Over roughly 7–8 miles, you’ll cover a broad section of the California coast without rushing, returning having seen far more than most visitors manage on foot.
Santa Monica is a natural starting point for coastal cycling, sitting directly on the northern end of the beachfront bike path. This allows the tour to begin without navigating city traffic, keeping the focus on riding rather than road crossings.
From here, the route links several distinct neighbourhoods via a continuous paved path. Beaches, residential canals and marina areas sit close together, making this part of Los Angeles particularly well suited to a guided ride that combines movement with regular stops.
Riders must be aged 13 or over and able to ride a bicycle independently with confidence. All riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over who is responsible for them during the tour.
A government-issued photo ID is required and will be held as a deposit for the duration of the experience, with a credit card kept on file for bike security. Riders should be comfortable cycling in shared spaces alongside other path users.
This tour is designed to maximise coverage without turning the ride into a physical challenge. The use of eBikes keeps the group together and allows time to focus on the surroundings, commentary and photo stops rather than managing fatigue.
With a local guide leading the way, you avoid guesswork and inefficient routing while gaining insight into the areas you pass through. It’s a structured, well-paced way to see Santa Monica and Venice Beach if you want context and coverage rather than a purely self-guided ride.

Yes, provided you’re confident on a standard bike. The handling is similar, with the main difference being pedal assistance when you ride.
Before departure, you’ll be shown how to use the assistance levels so you can ride comfortably within the group.
Most guests ride eBikes, but some may be on standard bikes. The pace is managed by the guide to keep the group together.
Pedal assist helps smooth out differences in ability without increasing overall speed.
The route is flat and the distance is moderate. eBikes reduce effort, making the ride manageable for most reasonably active people.
Regular stops are built in for commentary, photos and short breaks.
The route includes Santa Monica, Venice Beach, the Venice Canals and Marina del Rey. These areas represent the core coastal highlights of West Los Angeles.
You’ll ride primarily on dedicated cycle paths rather than city streets.
The three-hour duration includes riding time, narration and multiple stops. Stops are frequent enough to keep the ride relaxed without breaking momentum.
This balance allows you to cover distance while still engaging with the surroundings.
Yes, riders aged 13 and over can participate, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
Teen riders should be confident cycling and able to follow group instructions.
Comfortable clothing suitable for cycling and closed-toe shoes are recommended. Coastal conditions can change, so a light layer can be useful.
Bring sun protection and water, especially on warmer days.
Yes. The guide manages timing and positioning through busier sections near the pier and Venice Beach.
Riding early in the day also helps avoid peak congestion along the path.
You’ll need one government-issued photo ID, which is held as a deposit, and a credit card kept on file for bike security.
Having these ready helps keep the check-in process smooth.
A guided tour removes the need to navigate, plan routes or manage timing. You’ll see the main highlights efficiently while learning about the areas you pass through.
It’s particularly useful if you have limited time or want local context rather than exploring entirely on your own.
