Wood-fired smoke sauna on the bank of the Ounasjoki is a short drive from Levi, and the visit is private for your party. Quick dips in the river between rounds are there if you want them, or you can stay in the heat, and towels are waiting at the sauna. About two and a half hours covers the transfer from your stay and the drive home as well as time on the benches.
Pickup is from your stay, then a short drive to the sauna, and on the way your guide explains how a smoke sauna is prepared. A fire burns in the room itself, then the smoke is aired before you go in, so the heat smells of wood rather than an electric cabin. Towels are already there, so you change at the riverbank rather than packing a hotel robe.
Benches inside are yours to sit on, and stepping outside for cold air happens whenever you like, with the river a few steps from the door if you want a short plunge. Some people go in and come straight back to the heat; others stay on the bank and skip the water altogether, which is a normal way to spend the visit. Pace is set as a group, then you dress for the drive home, and we return you to the same door.
Riverbank forest holds the sauna outside the resort streets of Levi and Sirkka. Water sits next to the building, with trees around it rather than neighbouring hotel rooms, so you hear the river from the door. This is a riverbank sauna, not a spa floor inside a village hotel.
From Levi the hop is short, which is why about two and a half hours can cover the transfer, time in the heat, and the ride home. The riverbank sits outside the village on the Ounasjoki, with forest around the sauna rather than resort streets. Levi and Sirkka are the village area you drive from, a short hop from that forest edge.
Swimsuits and a warm layer belong in the bag for the drive and the minutes outdoors between rounds, even if you think you will stay out of the river. Children from age four are welcome with an adult, and you do not need any sauna experience. Groups are private for one to six guests, so the room is yours rather than shared with another booking.
Nobody has to get in the river, and if anyone would rather stay out of the water you can tell us when you book. Wear something easy to change out of afterwards, because you will dress again for the drive home. A light meal beforehand sits better than arriving very hungry, especially if anyone might take a dip.
Parties of one to six have the room to themselves, so you are not sharing with another group and you can set the rounds yourselves. Your guide stays with you from pickup to the ride home, including the explanation of how the fire was prepared. Towels wait at the sauna, so you pack a swimsuit and a warm layer rather than a full spa bag.
Transfer from your Levi stay is part of the visit, which is why you are not hunting for a riverbank address in the dark or the snow. River dips are there if you want them, and staying in the heat is equally fine. The same person who collects you is with you until you are back at the door.
We collect you in Levi and drive to the riverbank sauna. On the way your guide explains how the room was fired and aired, so you know what you are walking into before you change. Towels and the private room wait at the forest edge beside the Ounasjoki.
Swimsuits on, then time in the smoke sauna. Sit as long as feels good, step into the cold air when you want a break, and come back in for another round. There is no clock on the wall telling you when to leave; you go at the pace of your group.
The river is beside the steps if you want a short plunge. If you do not, you warm up again in the room, then dress for the drive back to the same Levi address we collected you from.
Plan on about two and a half hours from the moment we reach your door in Levi to the moment you are back. That includes the drive to the river, time in the sauna, any dip you fancy, and the ride home.
If you have a tight window between other plans, tell us when you book. The transfer sits inside those two and a half hours, not on top of them.
A swimsuit and a warm layer for the drive. Towels wait at the sauna, so you do not need a hotel robe.
The river plunge is optional and very cold. If someone already knows they will stay in the heat only, mention it so we can pace the visit around that.
In forest on the bank of the Ounasjoki, a short drive from Levi and Sirkka. It is a river sauna, not a spa floor in a hotel, and the water for a dip is the river beside the steps.
You do not drive yourself. We collect you, talk through how the room was fired on the way, and bring you back to the same address.
Four is the minimum age, and the booking can be anything from one guest up to six. An adult stays in the room with children.
Tell us ages when you book so we can keep rounds comfortable for the youngest person there. The river dip is optional for everyone, including kids.
Wood is burned in the room itself, then the smoke is aired out before you go in. What is left is a softer heat than an electric hotel sauna, and the walls still smell of the fire.
Your guide talks you through when to sit, when to step into the cold air, and when to come back in. You are not left to work it out from a poster on the wall.
No. The plunge is there for anyone who wants cold after heat. Plenty of people stay on the bank and go back into the room, and that is a perfectly normal way to spend the visit.
If the whole group would rather skip the water, say so when you book. We will keep the time in the warmth instead.
Cancel at least 72 hours before the start for a full refund. Inside that window, or if nobody is ready at pickup, the private room and transfer stay charged.
If the river is not right for a dip, we still run the sauna and we call the mobile on your booking as soon as we know.
The total depends on how many people are in your party, from a small group of one or two up to six guests. Adults and children all count toward that number.
Message us with your headcount if you want the exact figure before you pay. It is easier to check once than to guess from the starting price on the calendar.
A light meal beforehand sits better than arriving starving or very full, especially if anyone might take a dip. Drink water when it is offered between rounds rather than pushing straight back into the heat.
Pack a swimsuit even if you think you will stay dry. It is easier to skip the river than to wish you had brought one.
Names, children's ages, your Levi address, and a mobile number that works during your stay. Note who wants the river and who would rather stay in the heat.
Mention any allergies if a drink might be handed round after the sauna. A clear note before the day keeps the visit unhurried once you arrive.
