ATV trails, zip lines and a cenote swim in the jungle inland from Cancún, one park and no city crossings in between. The ride starts once the helmets are on and the controls have been shown. We pick you up from your hotel and bring you back when you are done.
Pickup takes you inland and the coast stays behind you until the van returns. The ride starts with helmets and a look at the controls, guide leading on the jungle track, which is the lively part of the morning.
At the platforms the harness is checked and the brake is demonstrated before you cross, and you can watch someone else if you want to. The cenote comes after the machines are parked, a freshwater swim, and then the transfer home.
The park holds the tracks, the cables and the pool on one property in the jungle inland from the hotel zone. That is why the day can hold all three without a second highway leg, and why it feels like a break from the strip.
Trails are dirt under the canopy, with the odd wet patch the guide will slow down for. The cenote is on the same grounds, and staff show you where to wait between the machines, the lines and the water.
You will need to be at least 4 years old. Most of the visit is outside in the heat, so sun cream, a hat and water from the van onwards will keep everyone in a better mood.
For the cenote, be comfortable in a life jacket and able to follow the guide. On the ATV and the zip lines the kit goes on after a check, and the swim starts only once that kit is off, which saves you a climb in wet shoes.
The ATV talk and the zip talk stay apart, at the machine and at the platform, so you see the thing you are about to use. A demonstration on the line is there for anyone who wants it, and you will not be first off the platform if you ask to watch.
Guides hold one pace on the trail and one order on the cables, which is what lets a mixed group enjoy it. Harnesses are checked at the platform you are about to use, including the leg loops, before the line opens.
Hotel lobby pickup applies on routes that include transport; be ready at the stated departure time with photo ID for children if parks require it.
Self drivers receive meeting point coordinates and parking notes from the operator ahead of the activity date.
A meal is not part of this visit, so eat beforehand and bring water with you. A snack in your bag is useful if you get hungry between stops.
Bring more water than you expect to drink if you are out over the middle of the day. A hat makes the sunny stretches much easier.
Light rain does not usually stop the visit. Lightning, a rough sea or a track that is too soft can shorten or move a section, and the guide explains that before you continue.
You will hear the change before you kit up for the next part. The group stays together while that decision is made.
Anyone taking part needs to be at least 4 years old, and children need an adult with them. The guide will say before a section starts if it is not suitable for someone in your group.
They need to be able to listen to the safety talk and stay with the group. The same briefing applies to adults and to children.
You do not need to have done this before. The guide explains how it works, and what they need from you, before the group sets off.
If it is your first time, say so during that briefing. It is easier to ask while everyone is still together than once you are underway.
You can bring a phone or a camera if it is secure and you can spare a hand. Ask the crew before you attach anything to a helmet, a harness or a handlebar.
If someone is taking photos for the group that day, the crew will say so when you arrive. They will also tell you where to collect them afterwards.
If a ruin, a reserve or a beach asks for a local payment, the guide explains it before you get to the entrance. It helps to have a little cash with you in case that happens.
Tips for the crew are your own choice at the end of the day. The guide is the person to ask if you are not sure what a site is asking for.
Bring a dry bag for a phone and anything else you want to keep dry. Ask the crew when you arrive if there is somewhere to change and leave a bag.
Put your name on anything you set down. The group moves between stops, and bags are easy to mix up.
A phone in a waterproof pouch is the simplest option on a boat or in the water. Ask the crew before you strap a camera to a helmet or a machine.
Drones and flash are often not allowed near wildlife or at the ruins. Follow what the guide and the site ask on the day.
Wear light clothes you can move in, closed shoes, and a hat. This includes an ATV and a cenote, so sun cream and a bottle of water are worth having from the start.
Bring swimwear underneath if the visit includes a swim, and a dry layer for the van or the boat. Secure anything you do not want to lose.
You should come ready for an ATV ride, zip lines and a cenote swim. Most of the time is outside, so the heat is as much a part of the day as the activity itself.
Take water when you need it, and tell the guide at the start if you want a slower place in the group. That is much easier than trying to catch them once everyone is already moving.
