Experience a full day on horseback across the Mongolian steppe on this three day Terelj adventure. You will meet nomadic families, ride towards the Chinggis Khan Statue, try a short camel ride, hike to Aryabal Meditation Temple and sleep in traditional ger camps surrounded by forested valleys and open grassland.
This adventure centres on Terelj National Park and a full day riding across the steppe towards the Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue Complex, with a short camel ride at the statue site and time to explore the monument and museum. Nomadic family visits, granite valleys and two nights in ger camps keep you immersed in the landscapes around the capital.
Landmark stops include Turtle Rock, the hike to Aryabal Meditation Temple and a zipline at Extreme Camp among the forested hills. On the final morning you return towards Ulaanbaatar with lunch en route and browsing time at Narantuul or Dunjingarav Market before drop-off in the city.
Gorkhi Terelj National Park combines granite valleys, forested hills and wide grassland within a few hours of the capital, so you can reach big-country scenery without a long transfer. The Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue is one of Mongolia's most recognisable landmarks on the steppe east of Ulaanbaatar, and the ride towards it is a memorable part of day one.
Overnights in ger camps keep you close to the landscapes you ride through, with tourist-grade facilities at the camps used on this route. Shared gers, camp meals and evenings around the firepit give you a taste of countryside life while still keeping the trip comfortable for international guests.
This tour suits active travellers comfortable with long riding days, shared ger accommodation and light hiking on temple trails. A safety briefing is provided before the main horse ride, and no prior experience is required, so beginners and returning riders can both enjoy the full day on the steppe.
Children from four years old may join with a responsible adult. Please mention dietary needs, riding confidence and any mobility questions when you book so the guide can match horses, plan camp arrangements and set a pace that works for your whole group.
Licensed local guides with more than twenty years of experience lead the route, combining steppe riding with cultural visits that feel genuine rather than staged. English, Japanese and Chinese support helps the logistics stay clear from pickup through to drop-off, whether you are asking about camp facilities, riding options or the best photo stops along the way.
The itinerary is built around one standout full day ride while still leaving room for temple walks, market time and a relaxed final morning. That mix of activity and downtime makes the three days feel substantial without turning every hour into a long transfer or a rushed sightseeing stop.
Morning pickup is available between 8:00 and 9:30 from the front gate of the State Department Store or the front bus stop at Sukhbaatar Square in central Ulaanbaatar.
Please make your own way to the meeting point on time. Airport pickup is not included but can be arranged separately if you request it in advance.
