Australia
Australia spans tropical reef systems, temperate mountain ranges, exposed southern coastline and vast arid interior. The Great Dividing Range runs parallel to the east coast, creating sustained elevation for trekking, trail running and alpine cycling, while both the Pacific and Southern Ocean coasts deliver reliable surf and long-distance coastal routes. The north is defined by rainforest and coral reef, supporting diving, snorkelling and sailing in warm water year-round, shaped by distinct dry and wet seasons. The central interior offers remote desert trekking and expedition-style overland travel, best undertaken in cooler months. In the south and Tasmania, cooler conditions allow multi-day trekking, sea kayaking and winter alpine activity.
