PeakFinder (Paid)

An essential app for hikers and mountaineers, PeakFinder lets you identify mountain ranges and individual peaks just by pointing your phone at them. It also shows you what is hidden behind the mountain range. The app does not need an online connection for rendering the panoramic view and works completely offline from anywhere in the mountains. You can discover any mountain landscape from a random location in the world.

First Aid by Red Cross (Free)

While not directly related to a particular sport, the First Aid app by Red Cross is an essential companion for all outdoor adventurers. The app provides expert advice on handling common first aid emergencies, with videos, interactive quizzes and nearest hospital location. It provides quick guidance on simple but important actions to take in an emergency so you can act with confidence.

Flyskyhy (Free)

A great simple paragliding logbook that automatically detects take-off and landing to log flight time, altitude gain and decent. It also shows the nearest take-off and landing points as well as the airspace restrictions. The UI isn’t the most user friendly but it works very well! You can also track your equipment hours.

The right app can make your outdoor adventure sports safer and more fun, providing valuable data, tracking your progress, and even introducing you to new locations, activities and like-minded communities. Happy adventuring!
