Alpine continental climate: cold snowy winters and warm summers; Föhn winds create local anomalies. Landscapes are dominated by 4 000 m peaks, glaciated valleys and plateau lakes. Signature sports: alpine climbing and hut tours, piste and back-country skiing, via-ferrata, downhill and enduro MTB, paragliding (especially Interlaken), canyoning in Ticino, and sailing or SUP on Lakes Geneva, Lucerne and Constance.
