Argentina
Argentina runs from subtropical rainforest in the north to sub-Antarctic forests and glaciated peaks in the far south. The Andes form a continuous western spine, creating some of the most dramatic high-altitude terrain in the Americas, while the east opens into wide river plains and Atlantic coastline. In the northwest, high desert plateaus and colourful valleys support altitude trekking, gravel cycling and remote road journeys. The Central Andes are defined by glaciated summits, including Aconcagua, and attract mountaineering, alpine climbing and ski touring. The Pampas and Atlantic coast provide flatter terrain suited to sailing, surfing, road cycling and horseback expeditions. Further south, Patagonia offers world-class trekking, technical granite climbing, glacier travel and sea kayaking in exposed, wind-shaped landscapes. Argentina is particularly strong for long-distance trekking, expedition mountaineering, big-sky overland travel and high-altitude objectives, with clear seasonal contrasts between north and south allowing year-round adventure planning.
