What To Expect

The Three Peaks Challenge is split across three stages, with a total ascent of 3,064 metres (9,843ft) and a distance of 26 miles (42km). Each stage is marked by the completion of a mountain, Ben Nevis at 1,345m, Scafell Pike at 978m and Snowdon at 1,085m.

We’ll set off from either Cardiff or London, collecting our group along the M4, M5, and M6 routes. Our first stop will be Fort William, the gateway to Ben Nevis. Next, we’ll ascend Scafell Pike, and finally, cap the journey off with Snowdon. Our daily hikes will roughly cover 8 miles, with an invigorating mix of uphill and downhill terrains.

Location

The challenge kicks off from Cardiff or London, making it convenient for people across the UK. We’ll drive through various pick-up points along the M5 and M6, offering flexibility in joining locations. Gloucester is particularly convenient due to affordable parking options near the M5. When you book, please let us know whether you would like to meet us in Cardiff or whether you would like to discuss transportation options.

Prerequisites

Participants should be reasonably fit, as this is a 4-day challenge ascending 3,064 metres. We strongly recommend some training walks, as detailed below. You may wish to join us on our range of hikes listed below to help you prepare, too. You can also book these through Adventuro.

You must bring:

  • Sturdy walking boots
  • Warm layers
  • Essential waterproof gear

We can provide a more thorough packing list upon booking.

How To Prepare

We strongly recommend that you do not underestimate this challenge. You will be tested over these 4 days on your endurance and stamina, so it is sensible to train for the challenge.

To prepare for the Three Peaks Challenge, focus on these key areas:

  1. Physical Training: Build up stamina with cardio and strength training & practice hiking on various terrains.
  2. Gear: Invest in good hiking boots (and break them in!!!) and moisture-wicking clothing & pack a daypack with essentials like water bottles and first aid.
  3. Nutrition: Maintain a balanced diet and stay hydrated & bring high-energy snacks.
  4. Mental Prep: Familiarise yourself with the routes and weather conditions & maintain a positive mindset.
  5. Optional: Consider a guided preparatory hike. We have lots of options at the bottom of this page.

You can join us from Cardiff or London. We also pick up clients along the M4, M5, M6 routes as we drive to Fort William.

We will be ascending Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales.

The trip takes 4 days in total. You’ll return home on the evening of the fourth day.

The fee covers transportation, professional guiding, and accommodation. Note that food is not included.

Prioritise physical fitness with cardio and hiking practice. Make sure you have sturdy walking boots which you have broken in(!), warm layers, and waterproof clothing.

We can give you a detailed packing list when you book. Bring walking boots, warm clothing layers, waterproofs, a daypack, and a wash-kit. Bedding is provided.

You can expect to walk roughly 8 miles per day, involving a fair amount of ascent and descent.

Our small group approach allows us to navigate the paths in a way that avoids the “production line” feel, offering moments of true solitude in the mountains.

  3. Pay for the booking to confirm it.

  • If you cancel after that, you’ll pay 50% up to 24 hours beforehand and the full amount after 24 hours 

Moderate

  • You can cancel until 5 days before yoru booking for a full refund
  • If you cancel after that, you’ll pay 50% up to 48 hours beforehand and the full amount after 48 hours 

Firm

  • To receive a full refund, you must cancel at least 14 days before their booking
  • If you cancel between 7 and 14 days before your booking, you’ll pay 50% of the cost
  • If you cancel less than 7 days before the booking starts, you’ll pay the full amount

Strict

  • To receive a full refund, you must cancel at least 30 days before your booking
  • If you cancel between 7 and 30 days before your booking, you’ll pay 50% of the cost
  • If you cancel less than 7 days before the booking starts, you’ll pay the full amount
  • You can also receive a full refund if you cancel within 48 hours of paying, if the cancellation occurs at least 14 days before the booking starts

Custom Cancellation Policy

- More than - 60 days notice – 100% refund.
- 30 days notice – 50% refund.
- Less than 30 days notice – 0% refunded.
