Prerequisites No prior experience is needed; Ghyll Scrambling is designed for participants of all levels however The Esk requires reasonable fitness as there is a 45 minute walk to start and finish the day and you may be in the water for up to 4 hrs. Children as young as 6 may be able to participate in some ghylls, but the minimum age for The Esk is 12 yrs old and under 18s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
