## FAQs

### Do I need previous paddleboarding or yoga experience to take part?

No experience is needed for either paddleboarding or yoga. The session is designed with beginners in mind, and we’ll start with a land-based introduction where you’ll learn the basics of how to balance, paddle, and move safely on the board. During the yoga class, you’ll be guided with clear instructions and options to suit all ability levels. Whether you’re new to both or just one element, you’ll be fully supported throughout.

### What should I wear for a SUP Yoga session?

You’ll want to wear light, quick-drying gym clothes or a swimming costume—something that won’t restrict your movement and will feel comfortable if it gets wet. On cooler days, layers of tight-fitting activewear are recommended instead of a wetsuit, as wetsuits can be quite restrictive during yoga poses. Bring a towel, a full change of clothes, and something warm for after the session. Also, consider a hat, sunscreen, and a bottle of water, especially on hot days.

### What happens if I fall in the water?

Falling in is part of the experience, and it happens to everyone at some point! The water where we practise is calm and shallow in most areas, and you'll be wearing a buoyancy aid for the entire session. Alex, your instructor, is an experienced SUP Yoga teacher and open water swim coach, so your safety is always the priority. If you do fall in, we’ll help you back on your board with no fuss—it’s all part of the fun.

### Is the session still on if it’s raining?

Yes, sessions go ahead in light rain—some people even find it quite peaceful. If it’s forecast to be wet, bring a light waterproof (like a pac-a-mac) to stay warm before and after the session. The only time a session would be cancelled is in extreme weather conditions, such as high winds or lightning, in which case we’ll contact you as early as possible to reschedule or offer a refund.

### How long is the yoga portion of the session?

The yoga class itself lasts around 45 minutes. You’ll spend the first 15–20 minutes going through a paddleboarding and safety briefing on land, followed by a gentle paddle on the river before anchoring in place for the yoga practice. After the yoga, there’s time for optional extras like swimming, trying out more postures, or taking photos before heading back to the clubhouse.

### Is there somewhere to change or shower after the session?

Yes, there are basic changing and shower facilities available at Arden Sailing Club. You’ll be able to dry off, get changed, and freshen up before heading home. It’s still a good idea to bring a towel and dry clothes for after the session, especially if you get wet during the paddle or yoga class.

### Do you have a minimum number of participants for this session?

Yes – we usually require a minimum of 2 people for this session to go ahead. If you're booking solo, don’t worry. We’ll get in touch to discuss options and do our best to join you up with another group or an existing session that suits your availability.
